Spanish Tarzan movie in which he is pursued by nasty hunters to locate the position of an ostentatious cave
ma-cortes17 November 2016
Spanish Tarzan without copyright , including splendid landscapes from Colombia , Miami and Spain . This is a regular Tarzan movie with emotion , adventures , tough fights between Tarzan and the evil prospectors , underwater fights , rapid streams , marvelous outdoors and many other things . It deals with group of nasty men are looking for savage animals . The group of zoo-suppling animal hunters is formed by Bob (Ángel del Pozo) , his wife Helen (Agata Flori) and the villain Richard (Peter Lee Lawrence , usual actor in Spaghetti/Paella Westerns) . Later on , they to be be aware Tarzan (Steve Hawkes , and he didn't speak Spanish language , being dubbed) knows a cave plenty of emeralds and the ruthless Richard detains him , mistreats and tortures to find out the location of a valuable grotto , called ¨The emeralds cave¨, a secret cave whose place only knows Tarzan . Meanwhile , at an African tribe happens a strong confrontation between two pretending applicants to tribe throne : a little boy and a violent warrior , both of whom have to dispute a dangerous race . As Tarzan helps and saves the threatened kid to defeat his enemies and some cruel natives who cheat him . To coerce Tarzan the villainous Richard , -who wish to take over the lavish cave- , kidnaps Irula , Tarzan's girlfriend , (Kitty Swan who along with Steve Hawkes were badly burnt in an accident while shooting) . But Tarzan doesn't take kindly the threat and executes against the evil-doers an extreme lesson .

This film with international title "Tarzan and the Brown Prince" is the follow-up to ¨Tarzan En La Gruta Del Oro¨ or "Tarzan in the Golden Grotto" also directed by Manuel Caño . A light mixture of moving action , sunny adventure and spectacular fights against Crocs and some wild-animal trappers who take on Tarzan . In the film there are wonderful scenes about swimming underwater , silly nasties , extensive views of the Central America jungle, and gorgeous girls such as Agata Flori and Kitty Swan marvelously dressed in in bikini fur . As well as extensive sights from wildlife , such as : Elephants , Panther , Crocs , Chimpanzees , and several others . The movie is dubiously faithful to Edgar Rice Borroughs story . It contains noisy action , sensational adventures , many angry natives , ominous white hunters , overwhelming falls , several enjoyable underwater scenes starred by Steve Hawkes and Kitty Swan , as well as breathtaking outdoors from Colombia and Florida . Embarrassing and kiddie screenplay by Santiago Moncada , a known as well as prolific novelist , Screenwriter and playwright who wrote ¨La Campana Del Infierno¨ , ¨Corrupción De Chris Miller¨ and ¨Gorilas a Todo Ritmo¨ also starred by another peculiar Tarzan . Colorful cinematography by Marcello Masciocchi , including ample shots over prairies and South American savanna , including footage of the real capture of wildlife as elephants in that the risks of the hunt are decently evoked . And anti-climatic and inappropriate musical score .

The film is lousily performed by Steve Hawkes , born in Eastern Europe , the Croatian Steve Hawkes (aka Hucks) emigrated to America as a teenager to pursue an acting career , citing Johnny Weissmuller as a childhood influence , though his career had sparse glory . He played a Tarzan-type role in a series of Spanish-language movies , as this one and ¨Tarzan Y El Arco Iris¨ (this one filmed on location in Colombia , Florida , Spain) , both of them shot by horror expert Manuel Caño (The swamp of the ravens , Voodoo Black Exorcist) . In Spain his character was referred to as "Tarzan" , but when they were released in English-language territories they directly avoided mentioning the Tarzan name , instead referring to Hawkes' character as ¨Zak¨ or "Zan" to avoid copyright foes . In 1971 he played the lead in the much-loved exploitation movie Blood Freak (1972) , in which he turns into a monster turkey . In the mid-'70s he was badly burned -along with his mate Kitty Swan- in an on-set accident (shooting this ¨Tarzan Y Arco Iris¨) , putting an end to his failed acting career and staying in Florida . Now completely retired , he runs an animal sanctuary out of Miami , a menagerie with a lot of wildlife ; however , being recently closed for a getaway of a dangerous Bengal tiger . This apocryphal Tarzan dressed in leopard , including a rocker lookalike style , long sideburns , like a bouncer and a special image belonging more a gay magazine than a Tarzan movie . Here the producers took the production budget and fled . Rating : 5/10 . Average Tarzan movie , though , subsequently , become a ¨Cult movie¨ for some Frikis aficionados to these kinds of weird products .

Steve Hawkes 2nd and final appearance as Tarzan
comeunmadrigale9 August 2006
This movie didn't turn out what it was meant to be from the beginning. Steve Hawkes and Kitty Swan were badly burnt in a fire accident during the shooting, and due to this the movie didn't feature as much of Steve Hawkes and Kitty Swan as you'd wish. Not near as good as it's prequel "King of the jungle", but still a very nice adventure movie with lots of nice locations and photography. Peter Lee Lawrence also did a very fine effort to this movie - and this movie is the 2nd best of the Spanish/ Italian Tarzans out there.

The Steve Hawkes (the best and most unique Tarzan in the movies in my opinion) Tarzan movies deserves deluxe DVD treatment! They are very rare at the moment, and if you get the chance to watch them - do it! Andreas, Sweden
