Originally titled "The Krofft Superstar Hour with the Bay City Rollers," the hour-long show featured skits and songs with the band as well as the segments "Horror Hotel" (with Pufnstuf's Witchipoo running a hotel), "Lost Island" (with characters from all the previous Krofft shows together on "The Land of the Lost"), as well as installments of "Magic Mongo." The competition was fierce, ratings were low, so after two months on the air the show was retitled "The Bay City Rollers Show," chopped down to 30 minutes, and the "Lost Island" and "Magic Mongo" segments were dropped.
George W. Woolery's 1985 book "Children's Television: The First Thirty-Five Years" omitted mention of "Lost Island," instead alleging that the show included a segment called "Chaka and Wolf Boy." This confounded fans, who later concluded that no such program was ever produced.
