The apartment complex used in the opening of the series was of the Park La Brea Apartments located in Los Angeles. The complex resembles in no way any apartment you would find along Queens Blvd. in Queens, New York.
The actual address of 13 Queens Blvd. is of a factory located in a rather industrial area of Long Island City in Queens not to far from the 59th Street Bridge.
The original name for the series was "Five Women".
The show's airing schedule created an interesting oddity. The first three episodes of the series, in which both Marcia Rodd and Jerry Van Dyke did not appear in, were in actuality the last three that aired. After taping the first three shows producers felt that cast was not right and thus Rodd and Van Dyke were added. Subsequently six more episodes were produced and it was these last six that were the first broadcast. After the first six aired ABC was on the fence as to whether or not to continue with the series due to low ratings. The on air relationship of Eileen Brennan and Marcia Rodd's characters were popular with the viewers the show did have and was the one bright praise critics gave the show, who otherwise were unimpressed with its lackluster writing. This convinced ABC to air the remaining three shows. However, this confused viewers as Rodd, as well as Van Dyke, were missing from these shows with no explanation. Ratings continued to fall and ABC subsequently decided to cancel the series.
