Revenge in style
mancoon128 February 2024
This film starts off as very much a standard revenge action fare. The plot is very simple: a famous tennis player is set up and blackmailed by a criminal organization. All sorts of shenanigans ensue. For the first hour or so our hero proceeds to run around the streets of 80s Japan and beat up those who wronged him (sometimes in a somewhat unintentionally goofy manner). There's also a fairly entertaining chase sequence here.

The film does take a more sinister turn towards the end though. So does the direction and cinematography of the film turn more interesting and stylish. The second half elevates this from a flick to movie or even film status.

I'd say this film is definitely worth seeing if you can. A digital HD version does exist of it, I just wish it was made more readily available. This hidden gem deserves to be seen.
