The composers of the dark, ominous soundtrack for Netflix’s “Stranger Things” just released a new music video that’s worth a look and a listen.
The artists responsible, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, make up part of the retro-electronic-duo Survive. Directed by Chris Rusch, the video features dynamic drone shots and the duo mixing their sounds in what looks like a dimly-lit warehouse. The video was shot in Los Angeles, Croatia and the band’s home city of Austin, TX. The featured track “Copter” comes from their second album, “RR7349,” and was produced by Relapse Records.

Among all of the surprises that 2016 has brought electronic music fans so far, this announcement might only resonate with a very specific subset of the scene. Blog house mainstays Mstrkrft have revealed that after a five-year hiatus they will release a studio studio album titled Operator.
The Canadian duo told Billboard that the much of the album was inspired by military themes. The title itself is a reference to “operator culture” – a concept which kept they purport kept coming up in conversations that they observed between military personnel.
The first track that they’ve released from the album is “Party Line,” whose abrasive sound design elements offer a challenging response to the saccharine electronic music which came to prominence in Mstrkrft’s absence. It’s certainly far removed from the group’s 2009 crossover hit “Heartbreaker,” but perhaps their fanbase will grow amid post-edm disillusionment.
Mstrkrft have yet to announce an official release date for Operator,...

Los Angeles - Mary Lambert has a little boast, for always, at every family reunion. "'Oh, your cousin went to Dartmouth? Well, I sang with Madonna at the Grammys.'" "There's a series of things I do before... a complete meltdown." Take a deep breath, collect yourself, and watch our abridged chat, above. This show aims to have in-depth interviews with artists,...

Looks like a showdown is coming on "The Originals," and sooner than you think.
Klaus' main goal in "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff series is to regain control of New Orleans from his former protege, Marcel, and in order to do that, he needs to destroy Marcel's secret weapon: ultra-powerful witch Davina. That's a little difficult to do, since Marcel is keeping Davina locked away in an unknown location for her own safety.
In episode 4, airing Oct. 22, these two formidable adversaries are finally going to meet, and Zap2it has your exclusive first look at their explosive introduction in the photo above.

A compilation film of Pathé newsreel clips from 1920 to 1972 captures Britain's complex relationship with the Caribbean culture of the time
'It is interesting to know that nine tons of sugar cane produce one ton of sugar, sufficient for a quarter of a million cups of tea, or thereabouts." The awfully proper tones that impart this particular nugget belong to Bob Danvers-Walker, for years the narrator of Pathé newsreels. Surely also the model for Harry Enfield's Mr Cholmondley-Warner, he may not be familiar by name, but the voice is instantly evocative: the clipped precision, the jauntiness, the terrible puns. His unique delivery is the unlikely star of a curious and compelling new film, which takes the curatorial art of the compilation album and applies it winningly to the moving image.
With a touch of Danvers-Walker formality to its title, Mirror to the Soul: Music, Culture and Identity in the Caribbean...
