Maria Zilda sizzles in this outback family drama
gonz3010 July 2000
Maria Zilda (known as just that in Brazil), one of Brazilian film and TV in particular best-known and most durable stars, sizzles in this movie about the Intrusive Woman- that's her. She comes between two brothers who share everything, in the Brazilian outback or pampas. Filmed when she was at her sexiest, at her youthful peak, she gives a sensuous, provocative performance as a raw, almost wild woman in strange territory. If you like her here, check her out in O Homem Nu (the Naked Man).

Underrated and almost unknown, one of the best Brazilian films.

Warning: Spoilers
A border film, where Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay disappear and give way to Pampa and the true Gaucho civilization in all its grandeur and essence. Direction, text and music by Argentinians, acting by Brazilians. Simple and rude people telling a complex and strong story of tradition, honor, fidelity, masculinity, but with enough naivety to incorporate an incestuous bisexual relationship! A simple film, but exquisite in its script, production, direction, photography. Highlight for the wide-angle lens with handheld camera in the fight scene. And a single line from the female character, two situations that mark Christensen's perfect inspiration for this masterpiece.
