21th Century Djik Warning: Spoilers
"Experience and history teaches us this: that people and governments have learnt nothing from history, nor acted on principles deduced from it."

Gerrit van Dijk's very own take on the turbulent 20th-century, shapeshifting via animation into different moments from history: He becames a firefighter, a surgeon, a censor, Clark Gable, one of the Beatles, Neil Amstrong, Martin Luther King, Buddha and Jesus Christ.

Animation and live action footage are alternated with both irony and reverence. And tragically, many of the problematics depicted here are still part of the 21th century, with a possibility of a nuclear war being today as inminent as van Djik feared back then in the 80s.

Hegel's quote at the beginning of this short remain evergreen, as history keeps repeating itself, with people learning nothing from it.

8.5/10.
