‘NCIS: Case Closed’ Aftershow: Sean Murray on McGee’s Goatee — Plus, Who Believes in Aliens? (Video)
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 21 Episode 6 “Strange Invaders.”] NCIS left us with a major burning question! Just who was the one person on the team who voted for Agent Tim McGee (Sean Murray) to shave his goatee in his wife Delilah’s (Margo Harshman) online poll? Tell us who you suspect, and why, in the comments below. The amusing plotline about our favorite tech nerd’s spouse encouraging him to go clean-shaven was a runner in an episode that saw the team get tangled up in a case involving UAPs. “The thing about McGee is that he’s a very based in science kind of guy, but at the same time, he’s got a romantic, sort of old-fashioned nature to him. NCIS Season 21 is going by very quickly. Fans may be upset to learn it’s also already half over.
The two Hollywood strikes not only delayed production for months – it has also led to a much shorter season.
Five episodes from Season 21 have already aired, with only five new ones left to debut this spring.
Hopefully, CBS will order NCIS Season 22 soon, so fans can look forward to more new content next year.
Previous episodes of NCIS are also available for streaming on Paramount+, allowing fans to enjoy older content during the upcoming summer hiatus. That includes the Ducky tribute episode that said goodbye to David McCallum earlier this season.
As for the remaining episodes this season, some noteworthy ones are already on the CBS TV schedule.

And so it was written, that a beast would come in the form of film, and that film would beget others due to profit, and those films would spread across the horror landscape to mostly whispered calls of, “meh”. Not for this little demon, however; as all of The Omen films work for me in one way or another, bringing us to number four and the first for the small screen, Omen IV: The Awakening (1991). The script gets flipped, yet it’s more of the same, and I’m not complaining.
Originally broadcast as part of the Fox Night at the Movies, Omen IV was trounced by ABC’ MacGyver on one side, CBS’ Murphy Brown/Designing Women on the other, and NBC’s Fresh Prince/Blossom on the other other. And as expected, no sins lain upon the critics were forgiven. This thing got roasted on the coals of Hell itself.

Weird is a very comfortable word in Jeff Lieberman’s lexicon. From the night crawler nastiness of Squirm (1976) to his mountaintop massacre Just Before Dawn (1981), his films are always a little left of the norm and all the better for it. And in between those two, he decided to take a run at a paranoia thriller nursing a major ‘60s hangover, pulsating with psychotic, Kojakian ex hippies. Welcome to Blue Sunshine (1978), a film more potent than the brown acid your great uncle said he took at Woodstock. (Although he probably wasn’t even there.)
Released Stateside in May (after a stop across the pond at the BFI the previous November) by Cinema Shares International (the fine folks behind Soul Brothers of Kung Fu), Blue Sunshine’s limited run and puzzled looks from critics saw it quickly fade away into cultdom, where it resided for decades with Lieberman’s other films...

Long live Michael Laughlin. Two years after he released one of my favorite early ‘80s oddities, Strange Behavior (I wrote about it here), he was back to unleash the next chapter in a proposed ‘Strange’ trilogy, Strange Invaders (1983). And while the former is a tribute to Mad Scientist films of the ‘50s via an updated Slasher take, the latter tips its fedora to the great Alien Invasion films of the same era. It may not reach the same dizzyingly weird heights, but Strange Invaders is an affectionate romp that captures the feel of those bygone drive-in classics and solidifies Laughlin’s unique voice.
A co-production between Emi Films and Lone Wolf McQuade Associates, Strange Invaders was released by Orion Pictures in mid September stateside to positive reviews and lackluster box office. Returning only a quarter of its $5 million plus budget, this was the Way of the Laughlin – everyone liked his movies,...

His reimagining of the song "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" is currently haunting gamers playing Resident Evil 7, and in our latest Q&A, we caught up with composer Michael A. Levine to discuss his key contribution to the game. In today's Horror Highlights, we also have a Comet network contest, an excerpt from Stuart R. West's Demon with a Comb-Over, and a Q&A with Bloodlands writer/director Steven Kastrissios.
Q&A with Composer Michael A. Levine: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Michael. How did you get involved with creating the theme song “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” for Resident Evil 7?
Michael A. Levine: The makers of the game, Capcom, were familiar with a track I produced (with Lucas Cantor) for Lorde: a dark and mysterious reimagining of the ’80s classic "Everybody Wants to Rule The World," which was used in Hunger Games: Catching Fire...

Strange Behavior. What an apt title for this film. Released in 1981, Aka Dead Kids, Strange Behavior is a unique mash up of a popular (at the time) sub-genre and one long forgotten – the Slasher and The Mad Scientist. For fans of either, it provides a weird, loving tribute to the latter while quietly etching a place for itself in the former. A lot of horror lovers missed the boat on this one at the time of its release, which is strange behavior, indeed.
Given a limited release in October by World Northal stateside, Strange Behavior impressed many critics at the time with its ethereal quality and 50’s throwback feel, but audiences really never got a chance to see it until released on video the following year. And even then, it never picked up steam with the horror crowd. Which is quite sad, as the film still plays as a creepy,...

I enjoy all four of the House films because they strike a chord with me from my wonder years, but Steve Miner’s original has to be my favorite. The movie came out of left field in 1986 and became a box-office hit and a fan favorite. Almost three decades later, egad!, it is still a blueprint on how to make a great horror-comedy. Suffice to say, it is a true Late Night Classic.
For those of you wondering what is the deal with House III (The Horror Show), the answers are right here.
Jason Bene: The story for House was written by your pal Fred Dekker. What kind of changes, if any, did you have to make for the final script?
Ethan Wiley: Fred and I were roommates at UCLA and we had worked together on various plays, short films, and we even wrote my stand-up comedy routines together.

Academy Award winning writer-director Bill Condon is close to helming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn parts 1&2. If Condon's name rings a bell, it's because he's the mastermind behind such recent hit musicals as Dream Girls and Chicago. So is LionsgateSummit, the production company behind the hit movie franchise, looking to bring a big, Act Two musical production number of "Naked Werewolves in Love" to the shenanigans of the next film? Probably not, though I'm certain that many of you are already envisioning the blocking even as I write this.
In truth, Summit is pursuing a "name" director like Condon in order to give the last two films in the series some cred, a standing on par with the Harry Potter films and their history of using some pretty prestigious directors to bring Hogwarts to life. I'm thinking there's also an effort to break the movie out of its fangirl/fangay...

I can see Gus Van Sant making a Twilight movie if he's allowed to do it in his minimalist "death trilogy" style. And maybe if Sofia Coppola made Breaking Dawn she could use the money she makes on a more interesting film later. But Bill Condon? He's the one director in Summit's wish list that I can't see doing the thing. Sure, he did a Candyman movie so he can do horror -- which the Oscars told us Twilight is. And he also got spooky and paranormal more than 20 years ago with his directorial debut, Sister, Sister, as well as with his early scripts for Strange Behavior and Strange Invaders. But otherwise he's mainly a biopic guy these days. And this is why I hope he at least takes a meeting regarding this Twilight offer and turns his gathered research into a film about the series' creator, Stephanie Meyer.

Horror fanatics are still buzzing like chainsaws over the Academy Awards’ genre montage. Anywhere there could be a conversation about it online, there was one. Many were upset over the Twilight ‘tweens’ participation, as if their mere presence sent a message about the state of scary in Hollyweird, USA.
A few seemed happy, though, to just get a glimpse of their beloved Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 if only for a few seconds. But many called the selections generic and thoughtless, demanding the likes of Demons and TerrorVision instead (well, maybe not TerrorVision; that was just me).
How about Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer? Re-Animator? It’s Alive? Tombs of the Blind Dead? Coffin Joe? No list is perfect, but with a bit more care and a phone call to any one of us, the Oscars could have elevated that section into a real scream. Or maybe they...

Canada's National Film Board of Canada (Nfb) returns to the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, January 21 to 31 with three selected animated film shorts.
The films screening are Cordell Baker’s "Runaway", Bruce Alcock’s "Vive la Rose" and David Coquard-Dassault’s "Rains".
"Runaway" is Barker's third short film with the Nfb. His previous films "The Cat Came Back" (1988) and "Strange Invaders" (2001) won 30 international awards and Academy Award nominations. "Runaway" was produced in Winnipeg by Derek Mazur for the Nfb.
Bruce Alcock’s "Vive la Rose", puts into images the words of a plaintive song about lost love. Co-produced by the Nfb and Global Mechanic, Alcock’s film is based on an 18th-century song by Newfoundland musician Émile Benoit, in a film that pays homage to the land, sea and the harsh lives of local fishermen, produced by Global Mechanic’s Tina Ouellette and the Nfb’s Annette Clarke and Michael Fukushima.

Welcome to the first installment of a new column here at Fangoria.com, Back Catalogue. Sometimes the Catalogue will cover new releases of older films, and sometimes it will feature exactly what the title implies, back catalogue items. These will normally be from smaller specialty labels that have formed the backbone of the horror fans ability to build a truly representative collection of their favorite films. I'm proud to start this column back up after a two year hiatus and promise to work hard to recommend films that you're in danger of forgetting about, have maybe never heard of, or that might be ready to go out of print.
I'm also proud that the first edition of Catalogue is all about Synapse Films. Anybody who goes to conventions and has stopped by the Synapse table has not only seen first hand the amazing array of labor of love releases and Special Editions they produce,...
