Fleetwood Mac is having tremendous success on its current sold-out tour. The band is playing its classic hits with verve and enthusiasm, plus, since the recent release of 4-song Ep, "Extended Play," the quartet has new material to sink its teeth into. Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham spoke to HitFix about the current state of Fleetwood Mac, the delight he takes in his still dynamic connection to Stevie Nicks, the latest on a full album from the band, and if Christine McVie will join her former band mates when they play London in the fall. I saw the band two weekends ago at...

Ten years is a long time between records but for Fleetwood Mac it feels like the rest has done them good. Containing four tracks, three new Buckingham compositions and a reworking of an old Stevie Nicks track from the 1970’s, the new Ep, ‘Extended Play’ is as fresh and exciting as anything they have recorded for a very long time.
At a show during their current world tour, singer and guitarist Lindsay Buckingham announced the Ep saying it would be out in ‘a few days’ before performing one of the new tracks. This created quite a buzz of expectation online, not least because the band hadn’t released any new material for so long. Weeks later the iTunes-only release appeared without fanfare. In the gap between the announcement and release it was rumored there was a delay centered around getting an agreement on the title and artwork. Between the over...

Today, Fleetwood Mac unveiled a new, iTunes-exclusive Ep "Extended Play," making it the first time in 10 years the rock troupe has released new music. The set includes fresh tracks "Sad Angel," "It Take Time" and "Miss Fantasy," which were written by Lindsey Buckingham and produced by Buckingham and Mitchell Froom. Plus, there's "Without You," a re-worked Stevie Nicks song from the Buckingham Nicks years; according to the band's website, it was rediscovered through the power of new media, "a lost song... which had been missing and happily rediscovered when someone posted an early demo of it on YouTube." Famous Denver native T.J. Miller put out his Extended Play E.P. in 2011. A collection of 41 different tracks comprising more than 70 minutes of material, it was funny, albeit a little overwhelming. For his newest record, he’s toned things down a little: The Extended Play E.P. Illegal Art ReMixTape takes the aforementioned mega-record and whittles it down to a mere eight tracks (though one of them is over 21 minutes long). The record’s not out until Sept. 25, but The A.V. Club has the premiere of the opening cut, “Partying With T.J ...

"We met and we talked about it for a moment when I saw her," Usher said of a brief sit-down with the...

With the release of Usher's seventh studio album, Looking 4 Myself, the veteran R&B star reveals a personal evolution that fittingly corresponds with today's pop-music appetite. In addition to the sumptuous soul one expects from Mr. Raymond, perfectly exhibited on songs like "Lessons for the Lover" and "Dive," it's evident that Ursh has a serious love of dance music. And after his euphoric collaboration on "Without You" with Edm crossover star David Guetta, dance-music fans should be elated to find that in his three-year journey of discovery for Looking, Ursh worked with some of the biggest names in Edm.

'Let's get going, summer is almost here!' Usher tells MTV News.

On top of his club-banging hits and soulful voice, Usher has another impressive skill: creating the song of summer. Usher has ruled the airwaves in the summer for years, with hits like "You Make Me Wanna" and "U Remind Me" making fans roll down their windows and pump up their radios to his infectious tracks.
Most recently, in 2010, Usher hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer months with his inescapable hit "Omg," and now he's looking to repeat that success with "Scream," the second single from his seventh studio album.
"Let's get going, summer is almost here!" Usher told MTV News. "It's intended to be that, but I don't think that was the only thing. We thought about live performance, we thought about mixing and matching and also...

Usher's seventh studio album may be titled Looking 4 Myself, but judging from the sound of his latest effort, he's found what he's looking for. Although the musical landscape has drastically changed over the years, unlike most artists, Usher has consistently evolved with it. He takes some risks with this album, and let's face it: He's earned the right to do just that.
Usher has called his latest album's sound "revolutionary pop" and that's exactly what it is. Looking 4 Myself takes his fans on a musical journey that has the singer experimenting with different sounds and working with different producers, but at the same time sticking with what he does best — making infectious music that gets people on their feet and in the clubs.

Azealia Banks proclaims that she's leaving rap music and has deleted her Twitter account in the process. Two days ago, the "212" artist harshly criticized the urban media and "rap game," stating that she'll focus on being a vocalist moving forward.
To limit her accessibility to her detractors, Banks shifted from her Twitter profile to a Tumblr blog on which she wrote under the headline "No longer wishing to be a rapper": "i never was. ... and as soon as i started paying attention to bullsh-- urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. New York - As someone who was disappointed by Lana Del Rey's infamous "Saturday Night Live" performance yet thoroughly enjoyed every song on her debut alternative pop album, Born to Die, I am so excited to confirm, loud and proud, that Lana Del Rey can sing!
"How f---in' cool are you?" Lana smiled radiantly at her New York fans after nailing her opening number, "Blue Jeans." It's the same song that did not translate so well on the "SNL" stage that cold winter night. It was Lana who was "f---in' cool" as the screaming fans nearly drowned out her entire first of three sold-out shows at New York City's Irving Plaza Thursday night.

John Mayer is none too happy with ex Taylor Swift these days, but the guitar strummer has plenty to celebrate when it comes to his chart prowess. Mayer's Born And Raised , will hold on to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 next week despite losing 70 percent of its first-week mojo. According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, Mayer's fifth solo disc sold an additional 65,000 copies, giving him a two-week total of more than 285,000.
Russian piano pounder Regina Spektor will land at #3 with her sixth effort, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, which sold nearly 42,000 copies, while buzz band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros came in a bit behind at #5 with Here (35,000). The other debut in the top 10 was from Icelandic mood rockers Sigur Rós, whose Valtari landed at #7 (26,000).

Yes, according to a report in the British newspaper The Sun, One Direction are set to star in an eye-popping 3-D film that is slated to begin filming next year. Which means that very soon, 1D obsessives will be able to plumb the depths of Harry's dimples, explore the peaks of Niall's mane or slalom down Zayn's cheekbones ... all in three very life-like dimensions.
Of course, the plot of the film (as if it really matters) has yet to be determined, with The Sun reporting that it may either be a scripted comedy — "a camper in the style of old Monkees films," is how a source put it — or a documentary,...

Both Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson dominated headlines this week. Not since the late '90s have these two duked it out for so much media coverage.
However there's a remarkable difference in what's happening today to what was happening then: Then, everyone was talking about their music and their pop star personas. Where Britney was a Lolita who proclaimed virginity while dancing provocatively in belly-baring tops, Jessica was innocent and sweet and didn't dare anger her minister daddy. Jessica released songs that put her big voice on display, and Brit focused on songs that put eyes on her dazzling dance moves and her ear for dance beats.

"He comes up with amazing melodies — that's what I was most impressed by. We'd put on a beat or something, and he goes into a booth, and he freestyles these melodies,...

With Simon Cowell rumored to be courting a raft of pop princesses for season two, we grade the judges-to-be.

By now, we're all aware that Simon Cowell is reloading. After largely firing blanks on the first season of "The X Factor," he cleared the chamber — casting off judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger (not to mention host Steve Jones) — and is now in the process of lining up a collection of high-profile, hollow-point replacements with which to take down the competition.
Of course, just who Cowell ends up nabbing seems to be a matter of some speculation: His $15 million deal with Britney Spears appeared to be a near certainty, but in the weeks since it was first reported, there's been no movement. And now come rumors that he's courting the likes of Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne to join the "X Factor" team.

In addition to parting ways with Hollywood, the band of brothers has confirmed that they also bought the rights to their master recordings, merchandising and publishing. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Nick opened up about the decision to push forward with their music career without the assistance of the label backing them.
"This was a decision that we made as a group," he said. "Naturally, as with any partnership, when you do part ways, there is emotion tied to it.

In honor of MTV's Battle of the Boy Bands, Above the Buzz breaks down boy-band mania and why picking a favorite really matters.

The Wanted

There's a full-on war happening out in the pop trenches. That war is being fought on the battlefield of the hearts of teen girls everywhere. The soldiers? Well, they are the new bevy of boy bands that are dominating the charts, the airwaves and the conversation.
Some people (mostly some older men that I know) are confused by it. They may not understand why anyone should care about boy bands. Well, here's why we do care: I think the rest of us are kind of into that joyful feeling of youthful exuberance that comes with boy bands. That feeling those five guys give you when they sing to you about love and how pretty you are. Heck, we've all been there.
