Little to like outside of Diane Franklin
cdasloon1 August 2003
The concept of the movie has been done before much better. The idea of a pair of lovers trying to work out their issues by reincarnating as famous historic couples doesn't work mostly from the script and overly light directing.

The only reason to watch this movie is to watch Diane Franklin show her acting chops (and her body in the Adam and Eve sequence). She seemed like she had real potential in her career, capped with the brilliant movie Better Off Dead.

So-so comedy, but Diane Franklin redeems it.
TroyAir21 January 2000
Its been awhile since I've seen this film but I recall that it was a so-so comedy who's only redeeming feature was the fact that Diane Franklin starred in it. Basic premise is that one man and one woman are sent through History to show the value of love during a test by the Devil (or something like that). Anyway, it starts out with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (yes, we see her topless). Then WW1 when Diane proves her love by standing before her lover as he's about to get shot by a German firing squad and opening her blouse (again, we see some skin). And so on until the Devil decides that Love can conquer all.

A good film for those who saw "Better Off Dead" and wanted to know if Diane was as hot as she appeared in that film with John Cusak. Answer: she sure was. If you're looking for comedy, skip this film and try "Better Off Dead".

Pretty much unwatchable

I wanted to record something from the TV recently so I pulled an almost forgotten VHS tape out of the storage area I originally got off of cable more than twenty years ago to decide if it was a keeper or not. Sadly, it wasn't and I was very glad to tape over it. The plot is almost nonexistent, although I must admit naked breasts were a real treat to find in the early 1980's and I did appreciate them at the time. If that's all you want nowadays go to Google and search under "images" for them but please do not spend even a minute of your valuable time watching this horrible waste of celluloid. Even the late lamented Robert Morley playing the part of God couldn't save this stinker.

Charming film

I saw this movie many years ago and I really enjoyed it. I can't understand all of the negative reviews that this film has gotten. I thought it was very charming and inventive. The casting is great, especially the lovely Diane Franklin...

an interesting, romantic, and original adventure.

Nice fantasy comedy showcase for Diane Franklin
Woodyanders10 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The Devil (robustly played with lip-smacking gusto by Robert Helpmann) makes a bet with God (a marvelously plummy Robert Morley) that if Adam (likable Roger Wilson) and Eve (a fine and enchanting performance by the adorable Diane Franklin) were given a second chance, the same result would happen as before. The pair are plopped into various past eras such as Roman times, World War I, and the Roaring 20's with temptation confronting them every step of the way.

Director Michael Anderson, working from a cute and clever script by Howard Grigsby, David Sigmund, and Ross Demsey, keeps the enjoyable premise moving along at a snappy pace, maintains a pleasant lighthearted tone throughout, offers lavish evocations of the past periods, delivers a satisfying smattering of nudity, and further spruces things up with amusing touches of cheerfully silly humor. Wilson and Franklin make for appealing leads; they receive sound support from Jon Gadsby as helpful angel Gabriel and John-Michael Howson as Satan's smarmy assistant. Of course, it's the always welcome and sparkling presence of quintessential 80's babe Diane Franklin that really gives this movie its extra sweet charm: Diane not only looks quite beautiful throughout (and, yes, does indeed reveal a lot of her smoking hot body), but also gets a golden opportunity to display her considerable acting chops in multiple roles, with her vibrant portrayal of a sassy 20's flapper rating as a definite delightful stand-out. Both John R. McLean's glossy cinematography and the lush orchestral score by Laurie Stone and Gary McDonald are up to par. A neat little film.

Adam & Eve's on off affair returns during the 2nd world war
Dax-2130 September 1999
Confused and stuttering comedy in which Eve returns in Vichy France to work for the resistance and falls in love with the same man all over again.

It's one redeeming feature is that the very lovely Diane Franklin is on screen for most of the film
