The French have a way of doing it ....
John_Mclaren17 December 2008
Vive les Femmes can best be described as a French sex comedy- not unlike one of those rather dowdy Brit sex comedies of the 1970s in tone (although better made). It is more "Can you Keep it Up for Week" than Benny Hill or "Carry on Garcon".

The film is notable more for the considerable nudity than for the cracking humour. Various dodgy French blokes try to get their legs over on holiday- but thankfully we get to see their targets in the buff on several occasions. The French do incidental nudity so much better than Hollywood- probably because the women look real from the size of chests to the thickness of their thatch. Anyway- they are uber-cute (or at least Catherine Leprince is).

For that reason alone this movie is worth seeing- if you want belly laughs I'd probably stick with Woody Allen.

Rom sex com

Tries for romance. Lonely people try to find Mr or Mrs Right. Comedy is comic book sketches on hols and in apartments. Sometimes dodgy dated e.g. Violence between couples and panties shown off to pupils by a teacher. Catherine Leprince is nevertheless a particularly sexy presence and the jazzy score is fun.

very alike Reiser universe

Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** one of the very good point for this movie is that it is very alike Reiser universe from wich it is inspired. The sex is as French as it can be, lots of bare chests, and more... The scene in the class, as the teacher flashes her panties to the little boys in front of her is so a happy view...It's the way i think sex should be viewed most of the time : as a happy, rejoicing thing. it is so sad all the paranoia about pedophilia. That scene is certainly not to be seen that way. The problem with american movies is that the little sex we see is always tainted with a bad-moral-orientation. e.g. : photo 1h.(W/Robin Williams) : the guy has a mistress : he is punished. The nakedness we see in the movie is associated with the punishment, the big knife.

Spoiler** In Vive Les Femmes, the nakedness is natural, the sex is funny, Pauline Lafont is georgeous although not enough present, she could have had an affair with Mammouth, poor guy, he finally gets her at the end...The director himself plays a blind guy, catching the undies of Lafont, lucky guy... Giraud is very good as the macho guy, becoming a submitted lover...the punch is marvelous(in both senses) as her mate yells at him, telling him he changed, he is too nice, too good for her, and...wham!!! he socks her in the eye....and she's glad!!!...That's Reiser humour...the inspiration for this movie (a comics-artist) So a 10/10...because so underrated movie

A nice comedy!

The scene in the classroom when Catherine Leprince is at the desk, showing her panties, is very funny. And the scene with Mammouth (Maurice Risch) drunk, wanting to slap the woman who is 5 minutes late at the meeting, is funny. It's not quite a masterpiece but it's fun watching.
