The stage curtains open ...

"In Like Flynn" was a pilot movie made for TV and premiered on ABC - Thursday, June 20th, 1985. Ronald Reagan was the President then, the song "Heaven" by Bryan Adams was a huge hit, and the most viewed movie of the summer was "Back To The Future". "In Like Flynn" was going to be a television series, but unfortunately, it never went beyond this film.

We follow the adventures of a woman (Seagrove) who poses as a researcher for a reclusive author, even though in reality she is the author, as she pursues stories through real life adventures, danger, and excitement. Her books are centered around her fictitious character, Jason Flynn - hence the movie's title, who travels to exotic parts of the world and becomes enmeshed into mystery and intrigue.

This movie was so much fun to watch and it is a shame that it never developed into the series it was meant to be. Jenny Seagrove was at the peak of her acting career and never in finer form. Unfortunately, this film is extremely rare and hard to find these days (in good quality), and you never see re-runs of it on television anymore. However, if you are fortunate enough to come across this hidden gem, I highly recommend you watch it. Very enjoyable from beginning to end.
