Italian animation auteur Enzo D’Alò – whose globally known works include “The Blue Arrow,” “Lucky and Zorba,” “Momo” and “Opopomoz” – is back with Roddy Doyle adaptation “A Greyhound Of a Girl” launching from the Berlin Film Festival’s Generation Kplus section.
“Greyhound of a Girl” is about four generations of Irish women who embark on a car journey. One of them is dead, one of them is dying, one is driving, and the fourth is twelve-year old Dublin school girl Mary O’Hara. Mary shares her grandmother’s rebel spirit and love of cooking and is bravely dealing with the fact that her granny’s days are drawing to a close.
“The main theme of the book is delicate and difficult to describe, as it deals with death,” says D’Alò in his directors’ statement. “At first, the idea of tackling the notion of loss bewildered me a little,” he notes.

Few things are as universally creepy as an old-fashioned urban legend. Kept alive through scary retellings at sleepovers and campfire tales, the information age ushered in by the internet had all but killed the wonder and fascination with these stories. That is until a new form of urban legend was born — the creepypasta. Slenderman is arguably the most well-known creepypasta, with the online meme unfortunately inspiring a very real murder attempt. This real-life violence has now allowed creepypastas to reignite the torch of power that the Internet extinguished from classic urban legends, and has given horror creatives a whole new playground to explore.

Just a few months ago, parents were in a panic as rumors were flying around the internet that children’s videos on YouTube were being infiltrated by a distorted faced lady who looked like a live female version of the old Scream movie mask, who was graphically instructing children on how to harm and even kill themselves. Police looked into the claims and ended up declaring the whole thing a hoax, but there were of course copycats and videos made of the claims that were really scary and upsetting to anyone that watched them.
So while all that is fresh in people’s minds, why not make a horror movie about the character to capitalize on the whole thing? Cue the movie already in development, Getaway. Here’s the synopsis for the film from Deadline:

A recent resurgence of hysteria surrounding the debunked 'Momo Challenge' has led YouTube to demonetize any video about the subject, including news clips from major outlets, as well as coverage from longstanding YouTube host and commentator Philip DeFranco.
Warnings about the supposed challenge began circulating last year, after Reddit users posted photos of a hair-raising statue with bulging eyes, a creepy, slitted smile, and long black hair. Those who warned others purported that the statue, dubbed 'Momo,' was associated with a viral challenge urging kids to participate in increasingly more dangerous stunts before finally “winning” the challenge by committing suicide.
But, despite the mass concern about Momo, it’s not actually a thing. The Washington Post reports that there’s no evidence linking the three youths’ deaths commonly associated with the challenge to the challenge itself. The Post also found that the current resurgence of Momo can be...

From Slender Man to kids eating detergent pods, there’s a long and rich history of creepy internet challenges freaking out parents. The latest addition to this time-honored tradition is Momo, an online challenge that’s purportedly sort of a combination of the Black Mirror episode “Shut Up and Dance” and Blue Whale. Momo allegedly targets young children by encouraging them to text a number on WhatsApp, which then sends them instructions to complete a series of increasingly bizarre and dangerous tasks from watching a horror movie to engaging in...
