This beautiful movie combines the excellent work of a marvelous actress as Sophia Loren (Mamma Lucia), very emotional and beautiful music and american scenary. A nice story for everyone italian and latin inmigrants who one day left everything, to get the american dream.

This was a wonderful experience and merits a wonderful sequel.

This was one of the best mini series I have ever seen. I would love to own it. Is there any way that I can purchase the series on VHS or DVD???????? This role seemed so natural for Ms Loren and offered Mr. Olmose the opportunity to really play a truly humane character.
The setting was so realistic and the music score WONDERFUL, truly beautiful. All the actors were superb in their roles .
I would love to see a sequel to this, but only if Olmos and Loren could somehow be used. The daughter who contracted TB would also be a real asset to a sequel. I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if different actors played the roles in such a sequel.

Warning: Spoilers
Apparently Beverly Hills Video repackaged the 3 parter as a single DVD. Husband #1 is confusingly gone completely, and Hal Holbrook appears only once, and never with Sofia. The result is a slightly more coherent and svelt 144 minute production. Major problems remain in the hilarious fight choreography and the odd music choices.
