Storyline
Plot Summary |
As an idle but good-natured commitment-phobe, Buck Russell is the last person you would think of to watch his brother Bob's three children. However, during a family crisis, he is suddenly left in charge of them. Unaccustomed to suburban life, he soon charms Miles and Maizy with his hefty cooking and his new way of doing the laundry. His carefree style does not impress everyone though - especially his rebellious teenage niece, Tia, and impatient girlfriend, Chanice. With a little bit of luck and a lot of love, he manages to surprise everyone in this heartwarming family comedy. Written by edward-fraraccio |

Did You Know?
Trivia | During Miles' interrogation of Uncle Buck (22:36 to 23:01), John Candy spoke the script's dialogue, so Macaulay Culkin could say the lines back to him and keep the pace of the scene very fast. (Note that this would be the take of the scene when the camera was set for close-ups of Miles.) See more » |
Goofs | When Uncle Buck is in the bowling alley with Tia, Miles, and Maisey - "Pal" has already come to sit next to Tia - but in the long shot of Uncle Buck helping Maisey bowl, Tia is clearly sitting alone on the bench behind the lane. See more » |

Crazy Credits | When the movie finishes, John Candy's voice yells "Wake up!", followed by the sound of an air horn and John laughing. See more » |
Quotes |
Buck Russell:
I don't think I want to know a six-year-old who isn't a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don't want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don't have a college degree. I don't even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they're ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they're no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I'm coming looking for you! [of Anita's mole] Buck Russell: Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face! Good day to you, madam. See more » |
