Terrific gaming cartoon just be careful of the goofs
CaptainR112 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Since when this was aired over in the UK, the cover songs are gone and so are the Captain N parts but this show still great even without them. Mario & Luigi may have different voices (Mario isn't too bad but Luigi sounds more scared) but the voice acting is still top notch with Toad and King Koopa, oddly I found Super Show's Princess Toadstool more gentler and softer in terms of voice than the harsher Super Mario Bros 3 one. Also the Koopalings are great new characters that looked like their game counterparts (Cheatsy, Kooky and Bully are my favourites). The one part that I like is that it fits with the game; music, locations and even bits like the Doomship as well as good plots... well most of the time (the Milli Vanilli one just has some background music from Captain N and the one where Luigi is turned into a dog are my least favourites).

The only problem is that there are too many animation mistakes common ones being; Luigi turns red, Cheatsy (or Larry) turning orange, Mario switching from brown to black hair and back after the first four aired episodes (since they have Mario with black hair) and some colouring problems which are incredibly easy to spot. Plot wise it is slightly better than Super Show but worser in terms of animation. Still, the show is worth watching if you like video gaming cartoons.

I remember watching the Mario cartoons in the early 90s. They're not bad, but they haven't aged well. The animation is dodgy and plagued by continuity errors. The sound mixing is poor on some episodes, not all of them, mind you. The music is so loud, that you can't hear the dialogue. And the songs. Dear God, the songs are HORRIBLE! They're sung with really screechy cartoony voices that makes it seen like a bad X Factor audition. However, the stories aren't too bad, it is true to the games, and it's nice to hear Mario speak in his Brooklyn accent, instead of his stereotypical Italian one. Overall, not bad, but not that great.

Another classic Mario cartoon from 1990!
abalpn-9947225 September 2019
I played Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. I'm glad that this cartoon had the 7 Koopa Kids. They took so many inspirations from the game and put them in the show. I love that Mario and the gang going into King Koopa's castle for most of the time. I did found out that Tara Strong played the voices of Hip and Hop (a.k.a Lemmy and Iggy Koopa). I liked the fire flower, super leaf and frog suit in the game and in the cartoon. An entertaining show for kids and Nintendo fans to watch.

Cool

This was one cool series. Combined various characters from Nintendo games in one part and had everyone's favorite plumbers in another part of the show. Captain N combined Icarus, Mega Man, Metorid, Punch out, Donkey Kong and sometimes featured a certain game like Tetris. The Mario part had Mario, Luigi, Toad and the Princess in a Super Mario Bros. 3 environment. A very cool show.

A Lot Of Fun

While the Super Mario Bros Super Show was pretty badly written, It's cheesy and corny nature is what makes it enjoyable. The same pretty much applies here. A great dumb fun experience.

Not as good as Super Show, but still fine.
maddoxacox10 November 2021
This show arguably isn't as good as the Super Show, as the voices were replaced with generic sound-alikes, I mean, Tony Rosato is a meme-lord, but, he just isn't Danny Wells.

A classic cartoon, not as good as the Super Show.
maxstenner30 March 2020
The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 is a follow-up of the Super Mario Bros Super Show. Lou Albano and Danny Wells are replaced by two completely unknown actors who just aren't as good. However, the cartoon is still fun and the addition of the koopalings is great! I just struggle to watch it now I am used to Lou and Danny's Mario and Luigi.

Being Apart Of A Video Game Series, This HAS To Be Your Cup Of Tea If You're A Video Game Fan Like Me
MichaelEberly9 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This widely popular Video Game Series became so popular, It's A TV Show! So glad to have witnessed this in the early 22000's. Miss this show as part of my childhood. Too bad there wasn't more episodes more than 26, It should've been demanded ANOTHER Season. The Super Mario Bros Super Show was widely acclaimed off of the Super Mario Bros Video Game as well. The other 2 Super Mario Bros Series was good, But this even made it better when you hear a song in every other episode which I think they was trying to make it Disney Friendly at the time of it's Production to compete with other Networks. Just like Sonic Underground, This show didn't do too bad in making songs that is RELATED to the game in somewhat way.

Honestly, I love rewatching these old shows and going back in time, I miss the NBC (Early 2000's) when they was airing this show and had Captain N And The Adventures Of Super Mario Bros 3 & Super Mario Mario World alongside Captain N which wasn't a bad idea. I really love these old type of "Spin Offs" you don't see anymore, Glad they still exist and glad people can relive their childhood, Like me and many others can.

Mediocre. The Mario series wasn't even started in the USA!
mirosuionitsaki215 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Back when I lived in New Orleans, a man walking by my house approached my mom with a couple of DVDs that he was selling for $20.00. This one one of them. I'm pretty sure he stole them or something, but whatever. Now, I just finished re-watching the first episode and I'm very disappointed. The whole series is filled with cheesy music, annoying beeps and boops, and very horrible voice actors. Imagine going home and saying, "I just did the voice acting for Browser!". Doesn't that just sound horrible? The series is CD-I quality.

Let me begin with the animation and the appearance of Mario. This is classic 90s style drawings. Everyone just looks all unusual and the colors are dark compared to Billy and Mandy, which was made when we decided we didn't want to blind children with darkness. So, to sum up this part of the review, it's pretty okay.

The voice acting like I said before just sucks. Mario doesn't sound like what you would expect him to sound. Browser just sounds terrible. Browser's little allies sound so annoying.

Overall, the series is not worth watching. If you see this on television, turn your television off or change the channel. But, if you want to see how this series is without reading a review, then go right ahead and watch it.

I really wanted to like this...
fappymanman24 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Sadly though this show is riddled with poor animation and it was also above all, boring. I am quite defensive of cartoons like these but this is an exception. I already reviewed M.A.S.K and talked about why I disliked M.A.S.K But this one is WAY Worse. You see, The stories took themselves too seriously resulting in the show being boring. The animation is VERY bad even for It's time. This show also has not very good voice acting for mario. This show is just boring and dumb but not dumb in a good way. I actually liked the super show too due to it being so stupid but this show has no charm. It's just a shameless, boring, poorly animated cash grab Nintendo advertisment.

I loved this!

You will never see another good cartoon show based on a video game. Why? It's because these 3D video games suck and cartoons are non-existent because they are SADLY being replaced by ANIME! YUCK!

I only watched the Super Mario 3 parts. I actually have a ton of episodes on tape! I have an episode where Princess gathers the gang to go to the real world and attend a Milli Vanilli concert. It was a fun episode right at the height of the Milli Vanilli career.

Oh how I miss shows like this. WHY WHY WHY won't NBC bring back Saturday morning cartoons? They used to have the best ones and now they think they're too good for it.

Super Mario Should Have Remained A Video Game Character
strong-122-4788851 January 2018
I guess I must be pretty spoiled from frequently watching Looney Tunes from animation's "golden years" (1940s-1950s) - 'Cause I found that seeing something like "Super Mario" (from 1990) left me with the feeling of being thoroughly cheated by this show's totally inferior animation and dissatisfying entertainment-value.

It sure seemed to me that the irksome eccentricity of the characters in this particular animated series all came across as being completely annoying and absolutely forgettable.

While - On the other hand - I have found that the whole "Looney Tunes" cast (even 60 year later) still endure and remain amusing and memorable (except, of course, for the Roadrunner).

All-in-all - I strongly wish that Super Mario (and all the rest of the dimwit gang) had just been left as video game characters.

Great
Grestep12 August 1999
This was one of my favorite cartoons when I was younger. The story was great and the characters were straight from Nintendo, except for Captain N. I wish it would come back on some channel. The Super Mario Bros. part was a great thing also. I loved watching the adventures of Mario and Luigi.
