Alana always refers to Jenny as "Jenny-Kelly". This is because people have no use for last names in the year 3000, and Alana is unfamiliar with the concept. She only refers to people by the first name she hears for them. It is also part of the reason why she struggles to understand the "Alana Turner" pseudo name the Kellys encourage her to use.
Silverthorn's look was influenced by the Mad Max (1979) movies starring Mel Gibson. Katherine Cullen had a small part in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985). John Howard later played The People Eater in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
The mini-series was broadcast on Children's BBC in the United Kingdom from May 3rd - July 19th 1991.
