Fandoms everywhere can now rejoice, for in October Our Flag Means Death finally returns to our screens for its second season. Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi will be romancing the high seas once more thanks to an enormous outpouring of love and support from the show’s fans. Former sitcom star and high-profile member of the Church of Scientology Danny Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for violent crimes a jury says he committed during the height of his "That 70's Show" fame, per Variety. The actor was sentenced today on charges of forcible rape stemming back to the early 2000s; he was found guilty on two of the counts, while the jury reportedly ended up deadlocked on a third charge.
Masterson was once known for playing Steven Hyde, an anti-authority teen stoner and fan-favorite character on the long-running sitcom "That '70s Show." His other credits include movies like "Yes Man" and "Dracula 2000" and roles on sitcoms like "Men at Work" and "The Ranch" (the latter a Netflix series that reunited Masterson with former "'70s Show" costar Ashton Kutcher before he was fired in 2017). Over the course of their 20-plus-year career, the New Pornographers have often specialized in catchy ambiguity. If leader Carl Newman was just a machine cranking out power-pop tunes, it would get boring. But there’s also a lot of mixed emotions going on under the surface of their studiously nuanced pop-rock formalism — like if Cheap Trick was as quick-witted as Steely Dan, or the Romantics were as throughtful as Rem. The Canadian band’s iconic 2000 debut, Mass Romantic, was a masterclass in hook-mad fun highlighted by songs with resolutely unfun...

“Subtraction,” from idiosyncratic Iranian helmer-writer Mani Haghighi is a tense Hitchcockian thriller set in Tehran, where a heavy, non-stop rainfall signals a lingering malaise. There, a young couple come across their doppelgängers. The film premiered at the Toronto festival.
The idea for the plot grew out of the helmer’s long-ago trip to Southwest Iran to look at places where the Iran-Iraq war took place.
“It was a hot summer day and I wandered into a local mosque to cool down and get some rest,” Haghighi says. “The people who ran the mosque had put on an exhibition of photographs from the war years. I was casually looking at these pictures and I was suddenly transfixed by one of them. It was a picture of me, in military uniform, badly wounded in the neck, being carried by two other soldiers. I hope you guys remember the movie Men at Work from 1990. The film was directed and written by none other than Emilio Estevez. Who did it star? Brothers Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen. It was probably the only movie that made being a garbage man in La look cool and make being an Lapd officer look completely lame. If you’ll recall the movie centers on two garbage men

A new character will debut in Flash episode 13 and will stick around at least until episode 14, that being the good intentioned leader of Gorilla City (The home of the sentient Apes in the comics, and apparently the CW show Flash), another ape, Solovar. If your left hand is evil, you hold Grodd, and if your right hand has good intentions then you cradle Solovar. This ape has been around the comics for a long time, and while he has had evil tendencies at times, Solovar is typically the logically thinking leader controlling Gorilla City.
Today, we learn that Solovar will join us, and I for one being an Apetivist am happy to learn that not all Gorillas will be evil in the show. Or so we are led to believe. For all we know, Solovar could be highly irritated that Barry threw Grodd into their world, disrupting their ape-lives and Solovar now seeks revenge.

Former Bunhead Sutton Foster will let her hair down — and scare up some fun — in Psych‘s nightmare-ish Season 8 finale.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Foster has landed a role in the USA Network comedy’s James Roday-penned installment, titled on “A Nightmare on State Street.”
Described as “a new vision in terror,” the episode — the storyline of which was decided upon by fans via an online poll — follows a sleep-deprived Gus into dream therapy as he attempts to get to the bottom of recent night terrors. After his treatment, however, nothing is what it seems, and he soon learns that “in dreams,...

Love him or hate him, you have to admit one thing about Charlie Sheen: The guy is pretty damn entertaining.
The man who stole the 2011 media spotlight from every other celebrity with his bizarre behavior and madcap yammerings is currently making a comeback on the big screen, continuing this weekend with his turn in "Scary Movie 5." If the trailers and clips are any indication, Charlie doesn't do much in the movie beyond hang out in bed with Lindsay Lohan — which is, of course, just fine.
It's not enough, though. We want even more Charlie Sheen movies. So while we continue to wait patiently for real Charlie Sheen movies like "Machete Kills" (he plays the President of the United States in that one) and make-believe Charlie Sheen movies like "Hot Shots! Part Trois" (or even the fraternal reunion "Men at Work 2: Still Working"), here are seven movies that could've used some Sheen.

If you're stoked on "Stoker," you can thank "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller, who is making his screenwriting debut with the gothic Park Chan-wook affair. Miller wrote the script under a pseudonym, and the results ended up on the 2010 Black List of hot screenplays that weren't yet snagged by studios.
Wentworth, we hardly knew ye!
Miller isn't the only surprising star doing double-duty as a writer, either. He joins an impressive list of famous, Hollywood faces that wield a mean pen or, more likely, the latest version of Final Draft.

A week ago, Breaking Bad finished the first half of its fifth and final season. In other words, summer TV has ended.
Although some shows, such as FX’s Louie and AMC’s Hell on Wheels, still have more episodes to go before their seasons conclude, NBC will be unveiling some of its new fall series this week — and the other networks won’t be too far behind.
To be honest, summer TV isn’t my favorite. I use the season to catch up on TV I’ve missed more than I do to watch such new offerings as TBS’s Men at Work and E!’s Married to Jonas.
However, this doesn’t mean all of summer TV is a bust.

With the sound of klaxons blaring and meme airlocks being sealed, Charlie Sheen's Anger Management has triggered its automatic 90-episode pickup, FX relayed in a statement filled with similarly automatically generated platitudes. According to the network, the show has met both its "designated average ratings threshold" and acceptable minimum definition of "comedy," becoming the highest-rated new sitcom on cable in 2012 (to the coincidental chagrin of Men At Work, we guess). The network expressed dutiful excitement about maintaining that plateau and extending its bargain with the self-aware devil for at least the next two years it will take to ...

It appears NBC’s former problem child, Dan Harmon may have found a new home. TV Guide reported earlier today that the former Community showrunner is close to a deal to bring an untitled multi-camera comedy pilot to Fox, his first major move since being booted from the NBC clever-but-cult-favorite comedy he created. Harmon is also hard at work in developing an animated series called Rick & Morty for Adult Swim.
Since becoming a darling with fans and some of the media, New Girl has expanded Fox’s idea of what makes for a good comedy. For one, it’s Not animated. Animated series are not a bad thing, but outside of Raising Hope, and before New Girl was a hit, the only comedies Fox seemed willing to develop were spinoffs of Family Guy. Anger Management reversed two weeks of downward trending with a visit from Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Denise Richards — and with nary a champagne bottle in sight.
FX’s freshman comedy this Thursday drew 2.65 million total viewers, with 1.42 mil landing in the coveted 18-49 demo, marking week-to-week gains of 9 and 13 percent, respectively.
The series was also up in the Men 18-34 (+26%) and Women 18-34 (+45%) demos.

People forget, but former Brat Packer Emilio Estevez has been directing films since 1986's Wisdom. He went from that to the underrated garbage men flick, Men at Work, in 1990. Chicago – Martin Sheen’s sons certainly command the spotlight, whether it was Charlie’s adventures of this year, or the emerging auteur talent of Emilio Estevez. Estevez wrote and directed the upcoming film “The Way,” which stars his father.
The elder Sheen and Estevez have been on a nationwide tour, promoting and opening the personal film along the journey. They were in Chicago on the weekend of August 19th, as part of the Chicago International Film Festival Summer Gala. This definitely doesn't look like "Men at Work."
"The Way" definitely does look a bit meta-cryptic, though, as Martin Sheen plays a mourning father who embarks on a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago with his son's ashes, a free spirit (played by Sheen's real-life son, Emilio Estevez) who was killed during a storm along the famous 800-km path from the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela in the north west of Spain.
Although the premise is a bit depressing, the film itself looks to be rather uplifting and inspiring with something of a "Wizard of Oz" kind of vibe as Sheen meets several other eccentric lost souls on his journey, including Deborah Kara Unger, James Nesbitt and Yorick van Wageningen.

Secondly, the man has become a total sh*t****. It was probably a foregone conclusion to begin with, but on Monday (March 7), CBS officially fired Charlie Sheen from "Two and a Half Men." Though the future of the show is still relatively hazy, it seems likely that the show would attempt to carry on with a different actor standing in for Sheen. While the MTV Newsroom blog already suggested a group of reformed bad boy rockers to possibly take Sheen's place, there are plenty of other actual actors (some of whom have been mentioned as actual possibilities, others who are simply wishes) who could score the gig and take the show in a new direction.
John Stamos
The former "Full House" star's name was passed around as a potential replacement, though both CBS and Stamos have denied that he is up for the gig. (Sheen himself also buried the idea.) But Stamos would make for an excellent replacement, as he is funny,...

With the cast and crew of The Hangover 2 having made a moral stand against Mel Gibson’s planned cameo for the film, the latest piece of casting news is something of a surprise: yesterday the chaps at SlashFilm, Badass Digest and a number of other sources were reporting that Todd Philips and co were looking to secure the talents of the media’s current crazy man du jour; Mr. Charlie Sheen.

A cameo from Charlie Sheen? What is this? National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1?
In what was momentarily hilarious and fantastic news, socyberty reported that actor Charlie Sheen — known primarily from 1990's Men at Work and providing the voice of Charles B. "Charlie" Barkin in 1996's All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 — was looking to play a zombie in Season 2 of AMC's The Walking Dead.Would it be terrific? Yes! But remember, the site claiming that Sheen's reps "confirmed" the appearance is called "socyberty". Heard of it? Me neither, but congratulations on getting yourself plenty of free publicity!
Luckily, producer Gale Anne Hurd was able to set the record straight about the Three for the Road star's possible cameo. "That is insane," Hurd told HitFix. "I'm on Twitter and I just got someone saying, 'Say it isn't so.' We don't even know what the episodes are going to be, much less stunt-casting zombies.

The New York Post is all over this story, obviously, but it hasn’t come out in print yet, which means we have a full day to guess the We’ve got a lot of ingredients to work with here: Charlie Sheen’s name, his movie and tv show titles, him being drunk, naked, and coked up, and his rep blaming an “allergic reaction.” The possibilities are downright Rubix Cubelike. He’s expected to appear in the Aspen, Colorado court later today (August 2), but Charlie Sheen does not have to worry about being sent to jail.
Word has it that the “Men At Work” actor is heading out west right now and will be meeting with his lawyer Yale Galanter ahead of the legal session.
Mr Sheen will plead no contest to a misdemeanor – not a felony, and he will be able to continue filming for “Two and a Half Men.”
If they cannot strike a deal, sources told TMZ that both sides will ask for a trial date when they appear in court at 3:00Pm Pdt.

He’s been flying under the radar as of late, but Charlie Sheen is sure to make headlines next week - as he is required to be in court in Aspen, Colorado for a schedule hearing regarding the assault charges filed by estranged wife, Brooke Mueller.
A court official told Radar Online, “His appearance is required and we fully expect Mr. Sheen to be here on Monday to appear before Judge James Boyd.”
The “Men At Work” actor is hoping that an agreement can be reached that will allow him to go back to work on “Two And A Half Men” when production resumes on August 6th.
Furthermore, Sheen and his legal team are working toward probation (instead of jail time) because Charlie wants to work as well as help take care of the twin boys he and Mueller have together.
