John Ritter plays very hard-headed Dr. Paul Saunders, who is quite excited because he is going to get his son Timmy (Matthew Laurence) for the summer to spend some extremely need time with him and his new wife Chandelle (Karen Young). He does feel bad due to the fact that he has neglected his son, especially since he and his first wife Naomi (Margaret Whitton) broke up. Thing is Timmy is wanting to spend his summer in France with his mom. Tensions are unwound as the story progresses and both Timmy's dad and mom's characters grow as well. A good TV movie to spend the afternoon watching or on a rainy day if the subject matter interests you. As usual Ritter makes it watchable. Joe Spano also plays Timmy's sensitive and smart step-dad Louis.
