Outstanding Thrilling Comedy
Amrvamp14 February 2007
From one of the best movie crews in Egypt ,comes one of the best movies of all-time. (Terrorism& barbecue)is an excellent dramatic movie which you should never miss when you consider watching REAL Egyptian Drama. the movie begins with this simple citizen (ahmed) going to sign some important documents in the largest managerial institution in Egypt :cairo's Tahreer(liberty)institution where he is shocked directly by bureaucracy & the long long procedures that run into all the veins of the Egyptian managerial & human societies . pushed by his nervous pressure he loses his patience & attacks a security guard who tries to force him to leave the institution because the work-time is over just to find the guard's automatic gun in his hands shooting some fire all by accident .

while the chaos goes every where all inside the building, he finds that he had without any intention controlled the biggest managerial building in Egypt & also that the building is all surrounded by the army & that he had become the most wanted terrorist in Egypt and he's offered to negotiate his demands with the government. From the famous Egyptian triangle , actor Adel Emam, the script writer Waheed Hamed, the director Shereef Arafa comes this movie to unveil many problems under the skin of the Egyptian society, from the bureaucracy , passing by prostitution & poverty &ending with wrong understanding of the Islamic religious guidelines. with great direction of Arafa , well-woven script & great performance from all the actors without a single exception comes a movie which has all the elements of a good one melt together in a comedic but thrilling Egyptian Masterpiece which you miss a lot if u didn't watch it.

may be Adel Emam as an actor has a long history (more than 115 movies ),&so is Waheed Hamed as a script-writer & Arafa as a director but the 90's which the three worked together in these political-themed movies are the best for the three of them.

funny and poignant

This movie is a really great introduction to Egyptian cinema. Many aspects of the movie's humor easily transfer to English audiences. We can all share the frustration with bureaucracy and the humor in stock characters. This movie is an interesting examination of the issues of Egyptian society and modernization. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in contemporary culture in Egypt.

Terrorism and Barbecue is a masterpiece that reflects the successful collaboration between actor Adel Imam and screenwriter Wahid Hamed in the early 1990's. The plot is about an honest and decent citizen named Ahmed who works two jobs to support his family, cannot buy meat because it's too expensive for lower middle and working class Egyptians and has to use the over packed public transportation every day. He tries to get some documents signed so he could send his two children to a nearby school, but the bureaucratic procedures shock him as he has to make his way through the crowded floors at a government building. In a fit of rage, he fights with a corrupted employee who spends most of his time praying and delaying other people's business. When the security guards interfere, he snatches one of their guns and unintentionally causes a wave of panic within a few seconds. Ahmed becomes a terrorist and holds hostages with the help of four people, a shoe shiner from Upper Egypt escaping from a death sentence, a poor service-soldier, a prostitute played by actress Youssra and a suicidal young man.

A Good Movie!
WaleedAlTelbany7 February 2000
This is one of Imam's greatest and daring films! I think it's his blockbuster of the 90s! It's facing the wrong doings and negatives of the Egyptian government in a comedian/drama directed by the brilliant Sherif Arafa and written by Waheed Hamed. The soundtrack is pretty cool too, composed by Modi El-Imam.

This is what I call a good movie!
