Once I saw the flashbacks to Vietnam the movie made a lot more sense. The main character, Will, began to make sense. Tattoos were used in ancient Rome to mark slaves to keep them from escaping- I got the same feeling about why the pimp had his women tattooed. Tattoos can also be the outward symbol of something inside. Will seems to understand this- but he can't save the girls from their fate. Not the best movie, but a psychological journey into the artists mind and the exploitation of women and the power of tattoos.

Twist your guts in pain, journey.

At the start of this movie, you will not like the main character, nor like his job. Then the movie backflashes and shows you how a normal guy can be twisted into a bad position, by life giving him a sick journey.
So the movie plays in reverse, leading you to understand the main character, and several other odd things. Like tattoos, the nature of torture, and its effects, war, other cultures and how they view life, etc.
Amazing movie, and found myself knowing "I would be *exactly* like him if *that* happened to me".
Loved this movie, its one for the guys tho.
