Here’s what we know about Longlegs so far. It’s coming in July of 2024, it’s directed by Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter), and it features Maika Monroe (It Follows) as an FBI agent who discovers a personal connection between her and a serial killer who has ties to the occult. We know that the serial killer is going to be played by none other than Nicolas Cage and that the marketing has been nothing short of cryptic excellence up to this point.
At the very least, we can assume Neon’s upcoming film is going to be a dark, horror-fueled hunt for a serial killer. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five disturbing serial killers-versus-law-enforcement stories to get us even more jacked up for Longlegs.

Fans of legendary actor Donald Sutherland will soon have the opportunity to lick his backside, as the 88-year-old will be honored with a stamp from Canada Post.
Speaking with The Canadian Press (via CTV News), Donald Sutherland was undoubtedly humbled and showed that, despite being on the cusp of his 90s, he still has a sense of humor. “It’s the biggest thing to me…I kept saying: ‘I’m a Canadian and now I’m a Canadian stamp…This is really something. I think just now when I said it, all the hair stood up on my arms. But it is cold in here.”
The stamp, which you can see below, shows a profile of Donald Sutherland behind with a list of some of his notable films – Klute, M*A*S*H, Klute, Fellini’s Casanova, Ordinary People, The Italian Job, and The Hunger Games – along with French translations.

For years, all I could remember was a figure in the woods stabbing someone. It was so simple, and so cold. No fancy camera work. No overdramatic score. None of the sound effects you’re accustomed to hearing during these moments. Just the hollow sound of a knife entering and departing its destination over and over.
A quick Google search and I had my answer. The movie was 1995’s Citizen X. An HBO made-for-tv movie that must have been aired constantly at the time. They were very proud of this one, as they should have been. It’s a strange, sweeping movie. Part political and historical drama and part grizzly crime film. After re-watching, I realized there was a reason it stuck with me.

Donald Sutherland is the latest addition to the cast of the Bass Reeves series currently in the works at Paramount+.
The show is now officially titled “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” and is now described as an anthology series with future installments to follow other iconic lawmen who have impacted history in subsequent seasons.
The logline for the Bass Reeves season states it will “bring the legendary lawman of the wild west to life. Sutherland will appear in a recurring role as Judge Isaac Parker, described as “an imposing and commanding judge in the Fort Smith Courthouse with a complicated legacy.”

Donald Sutherland is the award-winning thespian who has starred in dozens of titles throughout his career, showing no signs of slowing down with older age. Let’s take a look back at 16 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Despite decades of acclaimed work, the Canadian-born star has yet to earn an Oscar nomination, though he did receive an honorary statuette for his body of work in 2017. The Golden Globes recognized him with nominations for “M*A*S*H” (Best Comedy Actor in 1970), “Ordinary People” (Best Drama Actor in 1980) and “Without Limits” (Best Supporting Actor in 1998), so it certainly wasn’t for lack of good options. Additionally, he reaped a joint BAFTA bid in 1973 for his performances in “Don’t Look Now” and “Steelyard Blues.” Since Sutherland continues to land juicy roles to this day, perhaps his overdue Oscar narrative could pay off sooner than we think.

It has been exactly 50 years since Donald Sutherland earned his first Golden Globe nomination, and the tireless actor has marked the occasion by garnering yet another one. His bid for the HBO miniseries “The Undoing” is his ninth overall and, at age 85, he stands out as this year’s oldest nominee in any acting category. Though it has been 13 years since the HFPA last recognized him, he has remained remarkably active and has now proven to be as serious a contender as ever.

Irish actor Brendan Gleeson scored his fourth career Golden Globe nomination this year for his performance as Donald Trump in Showtime’s “The Comedy Rule.” His previous nominations were in the Best Film Comedy/Musical Actor category for “In Bruges” (2008) and “The Guard” (2011), and in the Best TV Movie/Limited Actor category for playing another instantly recognizable world leader, Winston Churchill, in the 2009 telefilm “Into the Storm.”

2021 Golden Globe Final Predictions:
Best TV Supporting Actor
Updated: Feb. 24, 2021
Awards Commentary:
Dan Levy could become the first comedy performer to win the Golden Globes supporting actor category since “Glee” star Chris Colfer did it back in 2010. Now, with the ongoing power of “Schitt’s Creek,” co-creator Levy is a front runner — although he has intense competition from John Boyega of “Small Axe.” Also in the mix are “The Undoing’s” Donald Sutherland and “Hollywood’s” Jim Parsons. Will the HFPA feel like honoring Brendan Gleeson for playing Donald Trump in “The Comey Rule”? That seems tougher to imagine.

Ben Whishaw claimed Best TV Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes in 2019 for “A Very English Scandal.” Could he win that prize again for his role in season four of “Fargo”? It’s actually pretty rare for actors to win this category twice. In fact, only five have ever done so before.
The biggest winner in the history of this category is Ed Asner with three. He won twice for playing the iconic Lou Grant in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and once more for “Rich Man, Poor Man” (1977).

The Undoing will finally see the light of day this October.
The long-delayed HBO drama reunites Kidman with Big Little Lies writer and Executive Producer David E. Kelley, and is set to premiere October 25.
The series was initially set to launch in April, but was postponed due to Covid-19.
It follows Grace and Jonathan Fraser (Kidman and Hugh Grant), who are living the only lives they ever wanted for themselves.
Overnight a chasm opens in their lives: a violent death and a chain of terrible revelations.
Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child (Noah Jupe) and her family.

Sutherland, who most recently starred as J. Paul Getty in director Danny Boyle’s FX anthology series “Trust,” will play Franklin Renner, Grace’s father, a retired financier and loving grandfather, who is tasked with protecting his family when the turbulent revelations come to light.

“The Ranch,” which returned to Netflix on June 15 for season 3, marks a reunion for Ashton Kutcher with two of the writers from his time on “Two and a Half Men.” The Emmy nominated Don Reo and Jim Patterson created this heartfelt series that stars Kutcher as Colt Bennett, a semi-pro football player who returns to Colorado to help his father Beau (Sam Elliott) run the family ranch. Two-time Oscar nominee Debra Winger plays Maggie, the estranged wife of Beau who runs a local watering hole while “24” and “Happy Endings” alum Elisha Cuthbert is Abby, an exy who reconnects with Colt.

Over two decades ago, I traveled to a city in the Russian provinces called Rostov-On-Don to interview a psychiatrist named Alexander Bukhanovsky.
Bukhanovsky, now deceased, was famous. If you’ve seen the movie Citizen X, about the capture of serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, Bukhanovsky was the guy played by Max Von Sydow. He was the Soviet Union’s first criminal profiler.
One of the first things he said was that both Russia and America produced disproportionate shares of mass killers.

Dear Lord, what happened here? Can one file criminal charges against a film that wastes this good a cast and premise? Child 44, directed by Daniel Espinosa and scripted by Richard Price, is based on Tom Rob Smith’s acclaimed novel, which itself was based on a series of shocking real-life murders in the Soviet Union committed between 1978 and 1990. This fictionalized variation transplants the crimes into the paranoid, industrial hellscape of Stalin’s Ussr, and it comes with loads of historical and sociopolitical context. So much ambition. So little competence. The investigation into “the Ripper of Rostov,” here called “the Wolf of Rostov,” has already inspired one terrific work of art, Chris Gerolmo's 1995 HBO film Citizen X, starring Steven Rea and Donald Sutherland — still one of the best TV movies I’ve ever seen. Engrossing and claustrophobic, Gerolmo's film portrayed the single-minded determination of a forensic investigator (Rea) as...

Dirty Snow: Espinosa’s Ungainly Yet Enjoyable Soviet Era Mystery
Grazing lightly over the Soviet era politics of the period and featuring a handsome, gussied up cast that features a tad too many problematic instances of accented English, Swedish helmer Daniel Espinosa still manages to make an utterly watchable film out of Child 44, his second studio picture since breaking into Hollywood with 2012’s Safe House. A cadre of diverse actors from Sweden, Poland, France, Denmark, the UK, the Us, Switzerland, and more, portray period Soviets, some to better effect than others.
Based on Tom Rob Smith’s novel, the first in a trilogy, Espinosa and screenwriter Richard Price have clearly tried to retain the source material’s sprawling scope, though the film sometimes gets tripped up in its own skirt layers. Considering the richness of the material, it’s too bad that our seemingly unwavering preference for shorter running...

Next year’s full to bursting with potentially brilliant geek films, so to help, here’s our pick of 25 must-see movies out in 2015…
Compiling a list of next year's most exciting films is extremely difficult. What do you put in? What do you leave out? Those are some of the questions we've had to ask ourselves as we drew up the long-list of our most anticipated films of 2015. In an attempt to limit the number of sequels which can fill up a list such as this, we've left out something like Fast & Furious 7, even though we're fairly sure it'll be a lot of fun. With but two significant exceptions, we've excluded some of the films we were looking forward to this year that have been delayed until the next, such as Kingsman: The Secret Service and Frankenstein.
What we're left with, we hope, is a fairly broad selection of action and comedy,...

Another 25 unsung greats come under the spotlight, as we provide our pick of the underappreciated films of 1995...
The year covered in this week's underrated movie rundown was significant for a number of reasons. It was the year that saw the release of Toy Story - the groundbreaking movie that would cement Pixar's reputation as an animation studio, and set the tempo for CG family movies for the next 18 years and counting. It was the year that saw James Bond (played by Pierce Brosnan for the first time) emerge for GoldenEye after a six-year break. It was also the year of Michael Mann's Heat, Dogme 95, and the moment where Terry Gilliam scored a much-deserved hit with 12 Monkeys.
As ever, we're focusing on a few of the lesser-known films from this particular year, and we've had to think carefully about what's made the cut and what hasn't.

The Hunger Games started the 2012 theatrical season with a bang. While many horror fans and general public wrote it off as another Twilight-esque teen melodrama, director Gary Ross and actress Jennifer Lawrence really elevated the film above what could have been a mediocre, bloated story. I never read the story and I really dug the movie quite a bit while Michael read the story and also liked the film.
Lionsgate Home Entertainment now announces The Hunger Games will be coming home on Blu-Ray & DVD this August on an unusual date (one that reflects the Twilight film home releases).

If you're used to seeing Mark Harmon as the fairly buttoned-down Jethro Gibbs in "NCIS," you may be in for a slight shock Sunday night on USA.
Harmon stars in the cable channel's original movie "John Sandford's Certain Prey" as Lucas Davenport. The character is the deputy police chief in Minneapolis and an aficionado of, among other things, hot cars, women and well-cut suits. (As we said, he's not exactly in Gibbs territory here.) The movie, based on a novel in Sandford's best-selling Davenport series, debuts at 9 p.m. Et Sunday (Nov. 6).
The movie follows Davenport's investigation of the death of a lawyer's wife and subsequent shooting of a police officer. FBI agents who descend on the case think it's the work of a hitwoman (Tatiana Maslany), and Davenport soon discovers that defense lawyer Carmel Loan (Lola Glaudini, and yes that's really the character's name) might be involved as well.

Herman Melville's 1851 novel Moby Dick has been cleverly adapted countless times. The first was the 1926 silent movie The Sea Beast, with Captain Ahab portrayed by John Barrymore. A lot has changed in filmaking since then, and we are catapulted, again, onto The Prequod--the famous vessel--and again to the extraordinary tale of a man riddled with obsession—Captain Ahab (Hurt)—who takes his crew on a personal vendetta--blinded by vengeance—in pursuit of the legendary white whale.
In this reimagined version of Melville’s Moby Dick, the power is in its all-star cast. The beginning of the film does drag a bit, but it successfully allows viewers to "get to know" the members of the crew and gave more of a back story on the main characters in the book. One character in particular, Ahab's (Hurt) wife, is briefly mentioned in the 1851 novel, while in the film, she has a...

USA Network has given the green light to Prey, a two-hour movie starring Mark Harmon, as the cable network continues to expand its original programming portfolio beyond hourlong scripted series. The film is based on the best-selling Prey series of novels by John Sandford. Harmon will play the central character in the books, Minneapolis Deputy Police Chief Lucas Davenport. The movie is based on the 10th of the 20 novels in the series, Certain Prey, in which Davenport goes against a lethal hit woman and a ferociously cunning killer determined to hunt him down. Chris Gerolmo (Citizen X) penned the script for the movie, which is slated to begin production in May. Jaffe-Braunstein Films is producing, with Michael Jaffe, Howard Braunstein and Harmon executive producing. "Mark Harmon could read the phone book and we'd probably want to put it on the air!" USA's president original programming Jeff Wachtel quipped. While Prey...

It comes as no surprise that the trailer for Rhi Entertainment's Roadkill would quickly pop up online once Syfy announced the Stephen Rea-starring monster movie's April 23rd premiere date. More surprising is that this Syfy movie about hit & run, gypsy curses, and a giant bird of prey doesn't look too shabby.
Kate and her brother, Joel, have gathered their five best friends for a scenic Rv road trip to their high school reunion. But their cross-country adventure is about to take an unexpected turn for the worst when an ancient curse takes wing by way of a massive creature. It’s called the Simuroc, and this gigantic bird of prey has found the perfect, helpless quarry in Kate and company. Stranded in the backwoods of the predator’s territory, there’s little chance for escape.
I really don't think the title Roadkill suits a movie with a premise like that.
