"Whatever happened to baby"?: jane
rbrb17 April 2003
Compelling tale of a woman who has lost her memory; has she suffered a severe mental breakdown? Or is she being set-up by her 'devoted' husband? Unfortunately once those questions are answered the movie tends to go down-hill, nevertheless excellent performances from the female and male lead. 7 out of 10.

Over-the-Top Melodrama
lavatch15 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was never made clear exactly how Jane Ravenson developed a severe case of amnesia. Even after stringing the audience along for three-quarters of the film, the circumstances of how she lost her memory were fuzzy.

"See Jane Run" pulled together all of the elements of a melodramatic amnesia film with the protagonist finally piecing together the strands of her past. The dream sequences were fairly effective, yet also routine, as we relived Jane's past right along with her.

The most intriguing character was Paula Marinelli, the woman working at the behest of Dr. Michael Ravenson in order to keep his wife drugged. It appeared as though he was willing to keep her in a permanent comatose stupor. But Paula, who first appeared to be Michael's mistress, eventually turns the tables on him.

While there was a fine set of performances, the pacing of the film was sluggish and too much of the dialogue was bland and predictable. The best scenes were at the beginning when Jane truly was running, actively seeking the truth about her past, instead of languishing in bed and popping pills.

Lost My Memory
whpratt18 May 2007
This film starts off with Joanna Kerns,(Jane Ravenson) wandering around in a grocery store and just plain looking with a blank stare at everyone in the store, she really looks like a very lost soul. As the story progresses, Jane Ravenson realizes that she has lost her memory and does not know where to go or what to do in this horrible situation. Jane finds her clothing filled with blood and lots of money in her top coat and only night wear under neither. Jane eventually finds she is married to a very rich and successful doctor named John Shea, (Dr. Michael Ravenson) who loves her very much and they also have a sweet young girl. This story will surprise you with its drama and final ending. This is a very entertaining film and excellent acting by Joanna Kerns. Enjoy.

So bad but fun to watch

Oh the humanity! What a lousy flick. Even by TV movie standards, it's awful. Predictable and corny. Joanna Kerns deserves better. Did she really need the money this much? But this flick is still fun to laugh at! Catch this howler on Lifetime if you can.

Weak but watchable

Standard Lifetime anti-man movie with standard amnesia-victim plot. The man of course is portrayed as a diabolically evil mastermind who the women must unite against to defeat. I suppose this is meant to be inspiring to women, but it just doesn't make for a realistic film. The amnesia angle is supposed to make you expect plot twists and turns, but everything that happens is predictable. Lots of eye-rolling. All of the actors & actresses are good, but this vehicle wastes their skills. This isn't a *bad* movie, but I certainly wouldn't call it *good* either. I watched it at 3am and all I can say is that it was better than watching infomercials.

Skip the movie -- read the book!
CherryIce2208 October 2006
"See Jane Run" is a great book written by Joy Fielding. This movie bears so little resemblance to the book that I can't believe it! Jane finds herself in downtown Boston one day with absolutely no memory of who she is, where she is or how she got there. She finds her way to the hospital, where a very handsome, charming doctor claims her as his wife and takes her home. He's very loving and attentive and promises to do everything to help Jane regain her memory. Jane begins to have flashes of memory, but the pieces don't fit with what her husband has told her. Is there something terribly wrong or is she just emotionally and mentally unstable? Please read the book to find out. The book has absolutely no nonsense about Jane having the ability to see the future. There is a completely valid reason for her to have amnesia, and when she does remember, you won't believe it! Run, don't walk, to your nearest library or bookstore. Don't waste your time with this movie. (No offense to Joanna Kerns, who is a very good actress!)

Enjoyable TV Movie
filmloverlady2 May 2008
This is one of the better TV movies of the 90's. I remember seeing it shortly after I read the book, and it was spot on! Even after all these years I could not get this movie out of my head. I was thrilled to recently find it on DVD.

Great acting and interesting story with twists and turns. It is a shame most of the TV movies from the 1970's - 1990's are not available on DVD. There are some great movies and miniseries out there, and this is definitely one of them. You will not be able to figure out what has happened until just before it ends, which makes this movie a true surprise. If you get a chance to see this sit back and enjoy!

Intriguing movie

I thought I had this movie figured out pretty quickly boy was I wrong. This is a great made for tv movie. I haven't read the book and most movies whether it's TV or theaters don't do the book justice I have a feeling this movie is as good or maybe better then the book. Johanna Kerns is fabulous, she can do comedy and drama with equal parts aplomb and realism. The farther into the movie you get,the more jaw dropping it gets. Jon Shea is also great as the supposed caring, loving, supportive husband, another shocking realization, they just keep coming until the end. A five star movie,a must watch, surprise, surprise.

Excellent 90s Thriller

Most movies based on a book are a letdown but THIS ONE delivers! Joanna Kerns was incredible. She was perfect in the lead role. There was never a dull moment in this fine movie. It keeps you guessing until the very end.

Very Dramatic
chrishewittpiano5 July 2002
I like this movie because it stars Jonnah Kerns. When I was watching "See Jane Run", I was astonished at how brilliantly Jonnah Kerns acted in this movie. She is so good that it is too hard to explain. If you also like Jonnah Kerns, she plays Maggie Seaver/Malone in "Growing Pains" which is another great show. It is very funny.
