We seem to be in the middle of a spate of hospital-based horror at the moment, with both this film, Eloise, and the retitled The Hospital (aka The Linda Vista Project), hitting DVD here in the UK within a matter of weeks; and there’s even more to come…
Eloise sees Jacob Martin’s (Crawford) father pass away, committing suicide, leaving him a considerable inheritance… Only there’s a catch: Jacob must first prove his aunt is dead. Apparently succumbed at the great fire of the Eloise Asylum, Jacob’s aunt’s death certificate is tied up in a legal quagmire. Desperate for money Jacob’s friend Dell (Jackson) suggests they break into the abandoned institution in hopes of finding a death certificate. Enlisting the help of Scott...

Another horror film is set in another insane asylum. This time, the film is titled Eloise. The film is from director Robert Legato and writer Christopher Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes). Eloise joins a long list of horror films set in mental health institutions, including: Session 9 (2001), Psych 9 (2010), Blackburn (2015), and dozens of others. This time, the film was shot in one of the largest institutions, the Eloise Insane Asylum. Involving a death certificate and a large inheritance, the film's first trailer shows four friends, attacked by the hospital's supernatural past. The film hosts a recognizable cast. Eliza Dushku and Robert Patrick both star in this 2017 release. Dushku has appeared in several horror films, such as the cannibal thriller Wrong Turn (2003) and Open Graves (2009), while Patrick has starred in the recent Hellions (2015). The film hosts a large cast, which also includes: Chace Crawford and Nicole Forester. Fans of horror can see this diverse cast in early.

Ok, so its April 1st and I’m writing a review of a boy band zombie Western mashup starring members of Backstreet Boys, *Nsync, 98 Degrees and O-Town. Which comes from The Asylum, best know these days as the mockbuster company behind Sharknado and its (three) sequels…. I know, I know, it sounds like I’m taking the mick, but I swear to god this is Not a joke – this is a real movie. Well as real as an other Asylum/Syfy team-up!
For those interested in the plot (because, to be fair, most people will just watch this to see old boybands fighting zombies - which would actually be a great...

Former Backstreet Boy talks about his boy-band SyFy film Dead 7. It’s gunslingers versus zombies in Syfy’s latest TV movie, Dead 7. Conceived and starring Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter – and produced by Asylum – the project takes place in a post-apocalyptic Western world plagued by Apocalypta (Debra Wilson) and her zombie army. It’s up…

Anthology horror films are a tricky beast. The rule of thumb is, usually only half of the segments are generally satisfying while the remainder leave a lot to be desired (save for the few successes such as Asylum, Creepshow, and Trick ‘r Treat). Epic Pictures Group recently announced that they will help produce a new horror anthology set for release next year around Halloween. The new anthology, Tales of Halloween, is based on a concept created by Soulmate director Axelle Carolyn.
Twitch reports:
The ten stories will be woven together by their shared theme of Halloween night in an American suburb, where ghouls, imps, aliens and axe murderers appear for one night only to terrorize unsuspecting residents. Apart from Carolyn the list of directors, under the name The October Society, includes her husband Neil Marshall (The Descent), Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider!), Joe Begos (Almost Human), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II,...

It is no secret that the genre of horror is saturated, like a wet diaper, with films that should never really have been made, films that are so bad they’re, well, bad. I know that sometimes a film is made that is often a train-wreck yet manages to be entertaining, but surrounding those films exists a bunch of motion picture atrocities that fail on all levels, and those are the films I’ll be looking at in this column. Now, you might not agree with the films I mention here, you might even be a fan of some of them, and that’s fine, this is merely my personal opinions on what I feel are the true horror’s of the horror genre, the poison in the water supply that made me, when I saw them, want to Linda Blair my guts against the nearest wall. These are in...

The nut house. The loony bin. Whatever your term for it, we all know it well... the insane asylum. It is one of the more unsettling settings in which a horror film might play out. To celebrate the December 31st release of Image's Sanitarium, we bring you our Top 11 Insane Asylum Horror Films.
As far as honorable mentions, one of my all-time favorite horror moments is in the insane asylum at the end of Psycho when Norman has completely become Mother. As the scene is very short, we kept it off the list and simply gave it an Hm.
Other notable nuthouse films include the Santa-themed sequel Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 and more hillbillies gone awry in Wrong Turn 4. Give us your picks below.

ShockTillYouDrop.com has received word of a new anthology film now in post-production which features the cast of Malcolm McDowell, David Mazouz, Chris Mulkey, John Glover, Lou Diamond Phillips, Robert Englund and Lacey Chabert.
The film is called Sanitarium - directed by Bryan Ramirez, Kerry Valderrama and Bryan Ortiz - and it definitely has shades of the 1972 Amicus flick Asylum.
Three half-hour stories make up Sanitarium and each segment is based on particular patients of a mental institution. The episodes begins with Dr. Stenson, the primary physician at the Sanitarium, commenting on the recent arrival of a new patient.

Hey, Paul Anderson! Just so you know, I'm a lot more likely to watch The Asylum's 3 Musketeers than I am yours. Sure, it'll be horrible but it'll also be fun. Yours will only be one of those things.Alexandra D'Artagnan, junior Nsa officer, uncovers a plot to assasinate the President of the United States and enlists the help of three infamous international spies to stop the threat. So, yeah, it's got nothing to do with much of anything, including the correct spelling of 'assassinate'. Veteran stunt coordinator - 224 credits! - and Asylum veteran Cole McKay directs with Heather Hemmens, Xin, Alan Rachins, Keith Allan, Michelle Boyd, and David Chokachi starring....

Two films we’ve been following with intense interest (for different reasons) here at Blogomatic3000 – Witchville and Mega Piranha – have both been announced as airing on the SyFy channel this Spring.
Witchville comes from one of my favourite directors Pearry Reginald Teo (if you haven’t seen Teo’s Necromentia, track it donw immediately), and stars Luke Goss, Ed Speelers, Andrew Pleavin, Myanna Buring and Sarah Douglas in a medieval fantasy that follows Prince Malachy (Goss) as he returns to his father’s kingdom after the Crusades. His first impression is that a bad harvest is the reason that the villagers are sick and hungry, but his arrival home is heralded by news of the king’s death and Malachy swears to take charge and help his people. But all is not as it seems and a stranger to the village, warns the new king that a dark force is...

It’s that time of year again, kids. Dread Central’s 2010 Horror at the Oscars coverage. Horror was indeed present this year and in black-tie. While Roger Corman and Lauren Bacall were honored a few months back at the Governor’s Award Ceremony, it was an unexpected delight to see Corman, recipient of the lifetime achievement Oscar, enjoy a standing ovation on national television.
I was, however, very disappointed that neither of them were allowed to speak. Roger Corman’s contributions to modern cinema are too vast for him to just stand up and wave. James Cameron was one of many Corman acolytes present, and his nomination speaks to Corman’s tremendous legacy. On the Terminator DVD Cameron mentions, "I trained at the Roger Corman Film School.” Jonathan Demme, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola, among many others, were also former students.
The terror continued with a spoof of Paranormal Activity...
