"I am not planning to make a film on any sports person's life at the moment but I am looking forward to watch Saina Nehwal's (Badminton player) biopic which is directed by Amol Gupte. He is one of my favourite filmmakers from the country. I feel that we should definitely make a film on Leander (Paes) and Mahesh's (Bhupati) life. If I get an opportunity to make a film on their lives I would definitely make it."
Vishal spoke at the player auction of Tennis Premier League. About the league, he said: "It's a great initiative because we don't give much importance to other sports but cricket in our country. I used to be a cricket player but now, I have been playing tennis for many years.

Mumbai, July 12 (Ians) While many actors get bothered about the date clash of their films with those of other actors, it is interesting to observe how Jimmy Shergill is enjoying the excitement of the fact that two of his films - "Family Of Thakurganj" and "Jhootha Kahin Ka" is releasing on the same day. He works with Saurabh Shukla and Rishi Kapoor, respectively, in the two films, and he counts himself as fortunate for that fact.
"Actually, with Rishi uncle it was so exciting to be part of an out-and-out comedy film. On Mr Shukla, we all know how fantastic an actor he is, and of his contribution to cinema and theatre. At times, I feel surreal. In fact, working these veteran actors helped me better my craft," he added.

Directed by Abhishek Choubey
Who thinks of such a story to tell?! Only a mind that is either supremely screwed-up or stunningly sorted. In director Abhishek Choubey’s case, I’d go with the latter.
Udta Punjab is a work of contemporary art so audaciously unprecedented in its vision and execution of a subject that is topical and timeless, you wonder if Bollywood, as we love and hate it, is finally growing up.
On the other hand lest we forget, filmmakers in the past like Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt and Gulzar constantly prodded and pushed mainstream Hindi cinema into areas of darkness, not fearful of the unlit interiors of the human heart.
Abhishek Choubey takes this forward to an altogether new high, the politically empowered human drama of Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zameen (the migrant’s plight in the city,...

Tabu, a very old favorite of Gulzar and his family, is back in the family's fold. The actress who considers the poet-filmmaker her father-figure has starred in his last two directorial ventures Maachis and Hu Tu Tu. Tabu also played the lead in Gulzar Saab's daughter's directorial debut Filhaal. Now she's back in Meghna's new directorial project entitled Talwar. Tabu steps into a role originally offered to Shefali Shah. Talwar also stars Irrfan Khan and Sohum Shah, that wonderful actor from Anand Gandhi's Ship Of Theseus. Gulzar Saab's reticent daughter Meghna Gulzar began shooting for her third feature film on Tuesday morning with minimum fanfare. The project has been entitled Talwar and the film is said to be based on the Aarushi Talwar murder case. Apparently, Meghna's father has given the film its title; just as he has titled Megha's two earlier feature films Filhaal and Just Married.

October 14, 2010: Filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj has composed music for many noted films like Maachis, Satya, Chachi 420, Omkara, Kaminey and Ishqiya. But he has always been very choosy to sign a movie as a composer. Now, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has signed Vishal to compose music for his upcoming film ‘Milte Hain’. Moreover, Gupta has been able to rope in Gulzar for writing the lyrics.
The film will star Vidya Balan in the female lead role and Gulzar’s daughter Meghna will be directing it. Vishal usually composes music for his own film but he has agreed to score music for another filmmaker after a long.

This Punjabi boy is not just good looking but talented too (remember his super performance in A Wednesday?). But Jimmy Shergill earned critical acclaim with his very first film itself, Maachis. Then he worked in a variety of film (Mohabbatein, Yahaan, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Delhi Heights), besides acting in Punjabi movies too. A firm believer in good roles, Jimmy doesn’t mind working in multi-starrers and has given good performances in Munnabhai Mbbs, Lage Raho Munnabhai and My Name Is Khan. He is now looking forward to forthcoming films such as Flat, Johnny Mastana, ...

In his very first film Maachis, he impressed the audiences even though the role was not of the main lead. In his next big release, Mohabbatein, he managed to hold his own despite sharing share screen space with two of the biggest stars in Indian cinema- Big B and Srk. He is none other than Jimmy Sheirgill, who is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood and of course a very famous face. As far as endorsement deals go, Jimmy has been signed to endorse Aliva chips. Readers may note that, prior to Jimmy; it was the svelte beauty Chitrangada Singh who was endorsing the brand. Jimmy remained unavailable to comment. One of his close associates said that Jimmy has gone abroad for more than a month, and hence he cannot be reached.

His directorial debut 'Makdee' didn't rake in the moolah but was widely appreciated. So were 'Maqbool', 'The Blue Umbrella' and 'Omkara' for their alternative climaxes and literary influences. Now with the huge success of his latest 'Kaminey', versatile filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj has also proved to be a box-office hit.'Vishal has always been critically-acclaimed but commercially not that successful. For example, 'Omkara' was a lazy proposition business-wise... it didn't even have a good opening. But the opening for 'Kaminey' has been huge and it has had a good first weekend too,' trade analyst Taran Adarsh told Ians over phone from Mumbai.'He has proved his credentials with the movie that he is also commercially viable. At the end of the day everything boils down to how rosy your balance sheet looks because the stakes are very high and Vishal, after this film,...

Realism has never been more in demand. And Sanjay Dutt who until recently was doing mainly fantasy is now on the realistic route. He'll soon start Raj Kumar Santoshi's film set in the Partition period. Dutt also plays a real-life cop in Rahul Dholakia's Lamhaa set at the heart of Kashmiri militancy. And now, Sanjay Dutt will take time off to play a real-life cop who waged a fierce battle against terrorism in Punjab at the peak of Khalistan movement. Apoorva Lakhia, who has been in hibernation after the ill-fated Mission Istaanbul, is all set make a comeback with a film on the cops who battled Khalistani extremism. The terror situation in Punjab during the 70s and 80s will be recreated through rigorous research on that period. Lakhia says the film will occupy the same gritty real-time-real-space as his film Shootout At Lokhandwala. Sanjay Dutt will be playing a real-life cop,...

New Delhi, Actor Jimmy Shergill is still riding high on the laurels his performance in "A Wednesday" brought him and says he is looking forward to doing more films that focus on providing "entertainment with a message". "I have done offbeat films like 'Maachis', 'Haasil', 'Mumbai Meri Jaan', 'Yahaan' and 'A Wednesday' in my career. These appeal to me as an actor because, apart from delivering a social message, they are entertaining as well. That is the crux of any good film," Jimmy told Ians."If the audience spends two hours and nearly Rs.200 to go and watch a film, it is important for us to provide them wholesome entertainment," he added. The actor, who has also starred in conventional flicks like "Mohabbatein", "Dil Vil Pyar Vyar" and ...

Jimmy Sheirgill has turned ultra selective after ‘A Wednesday’. And why shouldn’t he be? After all he has been delivering consistently for more than a decade now, ever since he first made an impression with ‘Maachis’. Now with good recognition coming his way after varied roles in films like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Strangers’, ‘Eklavya - The Royal Guard’ and ‘Bas Ek Pal’, it is but natural for him to sit back, relax and take a good stock of where his career his headed.
