Yes, the director, known for his meticulous attention to detail and dark brooding style, had set his sights on Brad Pitt for one of the lead roles in his $84.7 million film. However, Pitt wasn’t available at the time, leaving Fincher in a bit of a predicament. Over the past three decades, few filmmakers have mastered their craft better than David Fincher. With a fastidious eye for framing and a deep focus on directorial details, Fincher has fashioned some of the most precisely orchestrated cinematic outings since his big screen debut in 1992. Yet, for most avid cinephiles and casual movie fans alike, Fincher will almost always be most associated with Se7en and Fight Club in the 90s and perhaps The Social Network and Gone Girl in the 2010s. If that’s an accurate assessment, then it begs the question – what is David Fincher’s all-time most underrated movie? While the recent release of The Killer is a worthy candidate, and a serious case can be made for Zodiac, The Game continues to be a criminally unheralded psychological thriller that, upon repeat viewings, toys and torments the audience with devious plotting and duplicitous tricks as only Fincher can forge.

The rules are simple: Survive 30 days while being hunted by people attempting to kill you, and win one million dollars. As long as you're with another person, the hunters will leave you alone. This is the proposition presented to Tommy Walcott by a paid-to-be-there Andy Samberg in the Hulu film "Self Reliance." Written, directed, produced, and starring Jake Johnson, "Self Reliance" taps into the thrilling anticipation of David Fincher's "The Game," but with a lighthearted sense of humor and hell of a lot of heart that could only come from the guy who gave us Nick Miller on "New Girl" and one of the best episodes of "Mythic Quest."

Conspiracy buffs rejoice. Netflix has got you covered. Photojournalist Christian Hansen and director Zachary Treitz’s American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders is a paranoia mother lode. Investigative reporter Danny Casolaro probed irregularities in government dealings with criminal surveillance software designer Inslaw. His 1991 death, in a Virginia hotel room with multiple slash wounds to the wrist, including some which improbably tore tendons, was ruled a suicide.
The story Casolaro was chasing involved a cabal of important people tied in with branches of the Justice Department. The claims behind the four-part documentary series reach beyond the initial crime. The chase runs into almost every suspicion held against government agencies, and the shadow power they hold, by journalists and the public at large. Ever since he exploded onto the horror scene in 1996 by revitalizing the slasher flick with his screenplay for "Scream," Kevin Williamson has been one of Hollywood's go-to writer/creators for teen skewing films and television shows — and it all happened so fast. Within a span of three months, Williamson had "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Scream 2" tearing up the box office, and "Dawson's Creek" posting impressive Nielsen ratings for the WB.
He's had a couple of brief down periods, but he's never gone completely away (he rode out a rough creative run in the 2010s simply by having "The Vampire Diaries" on the air). Still, it's been a while since his name moved the needle in Hollywood, although his Covid-19 slasher "Sick" from 2022 did pretty well on streaming. But had the Gen X-er who'd connected so palpably with younger viewers for 20-plus years finally lost his touch?...

Kevin Williamson has set an overall deal with Universal Television, where he is developing four new series: adaptations of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 film “Rear Window,” Ruth Ware’s 2022 book “The It Girl” and David Fincher’s 1997 film “The Game,” as well as an original series titled “The Waterfront.”
Williamson is known for launching the “Scream” franchise and creating “Dawson’s Creek” and “The Vampire Diaries among several other film and TV credits. He enters the deal along with his production banner Outerbanks Entertainment.
If greenlit, the “Rear Window” series will stream on Peacock. It is billed as a “reimagining” of the Hitchcock film, which follows a photographer who uses a wheelchair and begins spying on his neighbors through his window. Williamson serves as writer and will executive produce alongside Outerbanks’ Ben Fast and Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox. Mkt Productions also produces.

Putting a fresh spin on one of the greatest movies of all time can’t be an easy task, but Kevin Williamson is up for the challenge. Deadline reports that the Scream writer is developing a TV series reimagining of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, and I can already hear the cries of sacrilege.
Based on Cornell Woolrich’s 1942 short story It Had to Be Murder, Rear Window starred Jimmy Stewart as a photographer in a wheelchair who spies on his neighbours from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder, despite the skepticism of his fashion-model girlfriend, played by Grace Kelly. To be fair, the iconic film was remade before with the 1998 made-for-tv movie starring Christopher Reeve. There’s also Disturbia, which was at least partially inspired by the Hitchcock film.

Paramount has decided to not move forward with a second season of “Wolf Pack,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show follows two teens whose lives are changed when a California wildfire awakens a supernatural creature. Season 1 aired in Jan 2023 alongside the “Teen Wolf” movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray starred.
Sources say Paramount hoped the audience behind the series would have grown from Season 1 to Season 2, but due to the dual Hollywood strikes, the likelihood of that happening was cut short since production was stopped. Season 2 would’ve arrived roughly two years after Season 1 debuted.
The series serves as the latest Paramount+ original to be canceled following “Joe Pickett,” which ended after two seasons in October 2023. Along with the rest of last year’s cancellations including “iCarly,...

A year and a half ago, Get Out, Us, and Nope writer/director Jordan Peele‘s production company Monkeypaw Productions acquired the genre film pitch Goat from writers Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the plan being that Peele would be producing Goat as part of Monkeypaw’s overall deal with Universal Pictures. Earlier this month, we learned that Goat is finally moving forward, with Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie) signing on to star in the sports-related horror film as the titular greatest-of-all-time athlete. Now Deadline reports that Wayans is being joined in the cast by Tyriq Withers, whose previous credits include Horror Noire, Senior Year, Tell Me Lies, The Game, and an episode of Atlanta.
Justin Tipping – who made his feature directorial debut with the 2016 drama Kicks – will be directing the film.
Akers and Bronkie’s script centers on a promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.

Since he was drafted, Stefon Diggs has become one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 draft. In 2020, the wideout was traded to the Buffalo Bills where he continued to see success with record-breaking performances and multiple trips to the Pro Bowl.

Let me preface this with an important disclaimer: I’m a huge Dead By Daylight fan. In fact, the very first article I’d written for Bloody Disgusting is a piece highlighting its enduring success. I’ve been playing it since 2016, back before it even landed its first classic iconic horror character with Michael Myers, and I believe Behaviour Interactive is largely responsible for putting asymmetrical horror on the mainstream map. When most people hear “asymmetrical horror,” Dead By Daylight likely is the first thing they think of if they’re familiar with the genre. Despite this, I’ve become frustrated with what appears to be a cyclical trap that large swaths of horror fans fall into every single time a new asymmetrical horror game is released:
“It’s another Dead By Daylight ripoff!”
I remember noticing it as early as Gun Media’s Friday the 13th: The Game. Despite...

They say that one person’s loss is another person’s gain, but cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt had mixed emotions about his recent good fortune in landing the coveted director of photography gig on “May December,” the latest film from Todd Haynes. The director is known for his Oscar-nominated collaborations with longtime colleague Ed Lachman, which include “Carol” and “Far from Heaven.” Lachman, however, suffered a broken hip after a fall while shooting Pablo Larraín’s “El Conde,” and Haynes needed a new set of eyes. So he turned to his filmmaker pal Kelly Reichardt for recommendations, and Blauvelt stepped aboard the darkly comic tale of a tenacious actress, Elizabeth (Natalie Portman), infiltrating the lives of Gracie (Julianne Moore), a Mary Kay Letourneau-esque homemaker and her much younger husband, Joe (Charles Melton), who was 13 when they first got together.

The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Game" begins with Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) on vacation on Risa, having enjoyed a wild sexual fling with a woman named Etana (Katherine Moffat). The opening scene depicts Riker and Etana prancing about a hotel room, giggling in post-coital bliss. During their play, Etana introduces Riker to a V.R.-style video game that latches over his ears and beams images directly into his eyeballs. The game involves using your brainwaves to manipulate animated discuses into awaiting purple funnels. If you insert a discus successfully, the game rewards you by stimulating the pleasure centers of the brain. Riker is instantly hooked.
Perhaps predictably, the game is more sinister than one might initially assume. It will later be explained that playing the game erodes the brain, kind of hypnotizing a player, leaving them in a highly suggestible state. Those who play the game urge others to play,...
