Nip is a rich man but with all his wealth, he's just a little lacking in brains. His valet does most of his thinking for him. Nip is very anxious to meet Kathryn, a movie beauty, and arrangements are made to have him presented to her and accompany her to dinner. Kathryn and her escort call at Nip's home, but Nip keeps her waiting so long while he tries to dress without the aid of his valet that she gets disgusted and leaves before seeing him. Nip goes to Hollywood to apologize. At the studio he sends in his card and asks to see her, but she still remembers the time when he kept her waiting in New York and is still very angry. She tells the gateman to keep him out. Nip tries to sneak past the gateman but is seen and thrown out. Then he tries to ride a taxi through the gate but it is being used in a scene and is blown up, and Nip is caught in the explosion. And again he finds himself outside. He finally outwits the gateman and gets inside the studio in time to be caught in the blast of a wind-machine, and blown on to a motorcycle. He rides around the grounds with the machine out of control, finally colliding with another machine and landing outside the gate again. Then he imitates a stuffed dummy and is dragged in and used in a couple of scenes. He is choked, beaten, thrown around and generally abused but ultimately lands on the same set where Kathryn is working. The dummy is supposed to be thrown out of a tall building and after nearly being killed. Nip's identity is discovered, and Kathryn forgives him.
