The greater Anime
Bailey-2215 September 1999
IMDB users, Do check this one out. Yeah, Dragon Ball Z, and Sailor Moon are great, but this one tops to some of the best Anime I've seen yet. The Tekkaman, Space Knights, battle the Rahdam to save the earth. Yumi, obsessed with Tekkaman Blade finally uncovers him and he comes back to help out in the fight only to be defeated by a survivor of the Black September in Prague, Tekkaman Dead End. The team learns to work together to hold off the Rahdam until D-Boy gets back on his feet. It's six episodes long, each one worth watching.

Ultra cool and loads of Action
TimothyMcKann5 May 2005
When I first started watched this anime on the Action Channel. I only got to watch the first episode, but didn't get to see the other episodes. I've been waiting for months to see it again, but it never came back. But years later, my father got me the collector's DVD for Christmas. I got to see all the episodes, and they were amazing. I know there were lots of funny parts. And David likes to flirt with girls, thats why he chooses Anita to be his pilot. What I think about Yumi, she is kinda cute. I know she has a dream to become a Tekkaman, and in the first episode, she really messed up by using the Reactor Voltekker and blown up 2 orbital rings. I know that she never meant to do it on purpose. But later in the show, she even got better by believing in herself and relying on her teammates. I also think D-Boy and Yumi make a great team, and I do believe they are very strong. Even through tough time. They can do anything. This is the best series I've ever seen. It's even cool that Tara Strong got to play the voice of Yumi. So in closing to this review, this is the #1 DVD to add to your collection. You will see what I mean.

Pretty, but empty.

Good animation, OK music, horrible everything else. This series is a waste of time. I've heard for a long time that this series was awful, and I didn't want to believe it. I mean, it has Takaya/Tekkaman Blade right? How awful could it be?

Well I'll tell you how awful. The first two episodes of this six episode oav series are wasted on developing a character that basically disappears for the rest of the series. Between the first episode and the second episode is particularly bad. One character has a huge fight with another character, and then the next episode, it's never mentioned again. Then suddenly one of the characters is trying to be nice to the other one with no basis established for her doing so. The middle episodes were out and out boring, too. I saw them yesterday... yesterday! I can't tell you what happened in them!

There are plot threads dropped not only from the original Tekkaman Blade, but within the oav series as well! Character A states she's going to stop at nothing to make character B her boyfriend, but nothing ever comes of it. Seriously. And this is built up for like two or three episodes. Why did we have to waste so much time with them?

D-Boy is totally wasted here; Aki gets some screen time, but I'm not sure I liked it. Honda's around, which is cool, but where the hell is Levin?! Noal and Milly's fates are never really disclosed either, despite it being only ten years later.

Things finally get interesting in the last two episodes... but it has NOTHING to do with the premise it set up for Tekkaman Blade II, and NOTHING AT ALL to do with Tekkaman Blade! The whole plot line of the Radam continuing to assault earth, not addressed, not tied up at all. This was not a space opera, this was a soap opera largely set on earth. There is very little action.

I loved Tekkaman Blade because first and foremost, it was about the struggle of a single burning soul in the darkness to do the right thing, no matter how many times and how many, many ways he got screwed over. Something very rare in this romance obsessed era we're now living in. But Tekkaman Blade II... well we have a couple of characters with the potential for their stories to be about more than crappy love triangles, yet this is all we get!

This show was a slap in the face to fans of Tekkaman Blade. Don't bother wasting your time with this. I've heard so many negative things about Tekkaman Blade II over the years, I'm shocked the other reviews on this site are freaking glowing!

Excellent Anime
t3h-kitteh16 April 2005
This is definitely one of the better Anime's I've ever seen, if you're a fan of Gundam or similar then you'll love this. However, this is a sequel to Tekkaman Blade, which was translated into English and released in the US and UK/Aus as 2 separate editions, both of which were translated from the original Japanese version poorly (It was released Under the name "Teknoman"). Tekkaman Blade II is excellent, but I recommend you watch the Original Japanese Tekkaman Blade first, there are fan subs around if you look for them. However even if you have not seen the Original (Which is much better than Tekkaman Blade II), then you will still be able to enjoy this excellent, although a little short, anime.

This is How Robin and Raven Met
JayWolfgramm18 May 2024
"Tekkaman Blade II" is a 6-episode anime miniseries from 1994. It takes place in "United Global Year 203". In this world humanity fights off monsters using giant battle suits controlled by "Tekkamen".

My review speaks specifically on the English dub because that is how I first heard about this show. Tara Strong at a comic con was asked, "What is the strangest line you've ever had to say?" And this is the show it came from. It makes sense considering this is a very strange show. It isn't as easy to follow as DBZ nor as kid friendly as most of Hello Kitty's voice acting roles.

Not only do the characters say strange things, but I found myself saying strange things as I watched the show. I was shouting at the screen: "Dude, David, just let Dead die." And that sentence makes perfect sense in context of the show. But people over hearing it thought I was crazy.
