Indeed a darn good and exceptional film which I saw in a premiere. So it's a long time ago, but i'll try to be more possible explicit on my comments. As well explained by your viewer (neossir) from France who made a pretty well done exposure on the political situation in Québec during the 70'... and after... and before. But you'll have to know at least a part of their history to understand why in this documentary they did believe in René Lévesque's true aspirations, which was every true québecois's aspirations too. It might be useful too if you see these movies, one by Michel Brault "Les Ordres" (1974) when Québec was occupied by Ottawa's army, a most significant part of that history. Then "Octobre" (1994) and "15 Février 1839" both by Pierre Falardeau. Now let's get back to "Le Confort..." where at that time as to-day, it was not an utopia for Québec and her hope to live in a country where every conscious soul's dream to feel at home become a reality. As the film shows, during the referendum (lost or stolen?) most of the politicians lied to the population, pretending that a vote for the "no" is one for the "yes", and voting "no" means "yes". How about that? No wonder some "mixed" québecois's did not see the booby trap. However most of the true patriots sincerelly knew what was at stake whatever the question. As long as it is asked by the Parti Québécois, the only political formation chosen to give their citizens what they really need, and that goes without saying, the state of Québec if they urgently wish to survive.
