Class of Beverly Hills (#1.0)

Warning: Spoilers
I haven't seen this show since I was a kid, basically back in the 90's. And I was pleasantly surprised when after deciding to watch something easy going that will also help my 90's nostalgia this pilot didn't disappoint me. Don't get me wrong, it isn't some sort of masterpiece, but I do my ratings based on the genre and when it comes to teen drama this pilot is a good explanation of why this show is a classic.

Wee are introduced to the characters. Some of them we see more about, like Brandon and Brenda the twins who move to the area and who are the centre of the two main stories. Some less about, but they still get to entertain us. Like freshman David who gets to drive drunk Steve home and messes up his car. This was actually the funnest story of the episode.

I always hear how Gabrielle Carteris was too old to play a teen. And yes, when I look at her profile she is indeed 29. But it is amazing how much she looks like a teenager, at least to me. Maybe it changed in later seasons.

And I must say seeing the old 90's clothes is fun. Some are fantastic, others horrifyingly ugly (like those pants Kelly wore the day after the party in school), but yet it is such a fun to watch.

Good - the first time you watch it...
nilobo21 October 2004
I think I started to watch the show when I was 11 or 12 years old (I am now 15). I thought it was great back then. A friend and I talked about it all the time. If I hadn't seen it the day before, she would tell me every detail about it, and vice versa.

At that time I would have given it 10 - no questions asked. Now I'm more like 7. For to reasons. It became to unreal. (I mean, how many has 4-6 friends who have all been drug-addicts, and who have all been dating each other?)I also think that the actors, the screenplays and the plot in each episode became worse and worse, the longer we got towards the ending of the show.

Still it brings up happy memories when I see an episode once in a while. So happy 7 from me:)

The lives of rich high school students in Beverly Hills
spaccygirl23 April 2002
The show started out promising but quickly deteriorated after Shannen Doherty left the show. After she left, it became soap-operish and melodramatic. I really liked watching it in the beginning because the characters seemed real but after Doherty left, everything fell apart. The characters became rampid wild sex machines who only cared about themselves.

Watching this movie makes one see how you can get addicted to the show. When the show first started granted some of the stuff was unbelivable but it got better. It's amazing how much the show changed in the second season everything from fashion and haircuts to the cast and opening titles. The cast was great. Watch it for nostgala sake.

Let's meet the gang!

Warning: Spoilers
The pilot episode introduces all the main characters and we get to know all of them. Not everyone's storyline is that interesting (Andrea's and Brenda's is a standout to me. Meanwhile Brandon and Marianne is just too much). The fashion is great, but Kelly's pants (choices were made that day).

Fav scene: when Mrs. Walsh throws the content of a box on the kitchen floor when Brandon is asking about the toaster. Not the strongest pilot, but let's see where do we go from here.

The One Where Brandon And Brenda Move To Town...

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this episode. It's really the only one I can remember really well. I've seen it so many times and it is a great show starter / pilot.

This is my absolute favorite episode of the entire series.

In this episode, Brandon and Brenda, move to Beverly Hills. They're twins and just started going to West Beverly Hills High School. Which is a big difference from where they're from. We see Brenda meet Kelly and Donna, the most popular girls in the school. They become friends. Good for Brenda. Brandon joins the school newspaper. And we meet so many fun characters.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10.

Memories

I watched Beverly Hills 90210 since I was in elementary school it has always been my favorite show. It deals with ups and downs you go through in life. My favorite moments were the first four years when Brenda and Dylan were the couple! When Dylan had to choose between Brenda or Kelly! Brenda, Brandon, Dylan, Kelly, Steve, David, Donna, Aundria, are the best! I miss the old cast the further I get into the seasons, the old cast is what made the show so great I believe even without them the show is good but the old cast had the better times and the most memories.I own all 10 seasons and I am still working my way through to the end.

Great first episode
lotusflower_cam5 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I recently started re-watching this show after being nostalgic for the 90s and my teenage years of growing up in California. "Beverly Hills, 90210" was a show that influenced me so much during my formative years. The first season began when I was in the 8th grade.

When I began playing espisode one to see the show for the first time in over thirty years, it caught me by a little surprise as I realized I had actually never watched the very first episode. Somehow I thought I'd seen all of them starting from the very first one, but as I watched one episode after another, I realized that I had only begun watching season 1 from around episode 10. Memories then came back. This show was not a huge hit from the start. It caught up mid-season when Fox played new episodes during the summer, when most other series went on hiatus. Around that time my girlfriends told me I had to watch it and that's how I started, and like everyone else, I got hooked!

So since I had never seen the first several episodes, watching them for the first time was pretty cool. The way they started the series with the first episode was perfect. The Walsh family moves from Minnesota to Beverly Hills, everyone must start with their adjustment phase, Brenda and Brandon meet all the gang who would later become their closest friends. Personally it took me back to when I myself also moved to California as a pre-teen and all the adjustments I had to go through and all the new friends I made. Back in the days, I watched the show because all the teenagers in America were and I, too, loved it. But now I see how close the show's background, its location, and timing had actually linked with my own life, though I was a few years younger than the main characters. I have a newfound appreciation for how this show impacted me personally.

For episode one... I liked the storyline of Brenda dating an older guy pretending to be a college student. I was that girl who couldn't wait to grow up, get older. So relatable and nostalgic for me, though I myself never faked my age to try to date older boys, lol. But I did have a girlfriend in high school who did the same thing as Brenda! I now wonder if she'd gotten it from this show.. lol.

The first season of "Beverly Hills, 90210" does a wonderdul job mixing in the wholesomeness of the Walsh family from the Midwest, with the more complicated life and culture of Los Angeles. As the show would go on to be known and praised for addressing multiple challenges and social issues that teens faced, more vividly and honestly than any other teen dramas prior, this season offers a plethora of great stories. Watching this over 30 years later today, it's still interesting, even thought-provoking, and most definitely entertaining.

A good movie. I love this show and have watched it since it was on from the time it was over. The movie was good. Brandon and Kelly were my favorite characters in the show/movie. Shannon Dorehty was an okay chartacter for Brenda Walsh. I thought she was rather annoying. Jennie Garth was good at her character (Kelly Taylor). Brandon and Brenda's parents were rather annoying too. They were to old fashion about a lot of things. I give the movie 8/10. It was good. But the show on t.v was better. To bad it had to end, but they can't go on forever.
