Trivia The brief footage in which Gary Cooper, Gina Lollobrigida, Martine Carol and Gregory Peck appear is taken from the awards ceremony of the Seventh Victoires du cinéma français for the year 1952. The ceremony took place on 13 June 1953 in the jardins des Tuileries in Paris. Cooper won the best foreign actor award given by the "directeurs de salles" for High Noon (known in French as Le train sifflera trois fois (1952). Carol won the best French actress award for Caroline Chérie (1951). Lollobrigida won the best foreign actress award for Fanfan la tulipe (1952) and Peck won the best foreign actor award by the "spectateurs et Cinémonde" for The Guns of Navarone (known in French as Les canons de Navarone (1961). There exists a photograph of all four winners together holding their distinctive trophies which were modelled on the antique sculpture of Nike known as the Victoire de Samothrace. See more »
