Mesdemoiselles de Paris

Like Jacques Becker's "Falbala" ,"Scandale aux Champs Elysees" takes place in the chic world of fashion. But there the comparison ends.Roder Blanc's flick is a rather mediocre thriller, not really scary and not even suspenseful.

Models are strangled among a top designer's staff.A cop is investigating. The usual suspects : the boss (Pierre Renoir whose part is actually very small),a sexually repressed clerk...

The only real interest lies in the song ,the "Mademoiselle de Paris" waltz which was a big hit a long time ago in France but which is almost forgotten today.Jacqueline François sings it and she also dubs the actress who plays the "masked singer" 's part for another song.

As mentioned above, I did not watch the film completely nor am fluent in French but I can say that the film is mezzo-mezzo and that some scenes aren't that scary or suspenseful as they could've been (as mentioned by the other review here by dbdumonteil) but it was a bit nice to see nicely dressed ladies and Jacques Fath also on film.

It's the first time I see a French Film Noir/Thriller type of movie. It was interesting, pitifully I wish it was better.. and more suspenseful.
