From the Spider's Perspective
Hitchcoc4 December 2018
Granted, these houseflies are supposed to be cute (ugh, filthy creatures), but we need to remember the food chain. As big and ugly as the spider is, he is trying to feed his family and is having no success with his web. All that aside, this has some really nice jazz/blues music as the spider sings romantically to the pretty female fly. This sets the scene for more Fleischer cartoons.

Wise Flies was a pretty entertaining Max Fleischer Talkartoon
tavm28 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Just watched this Max Fleischer Talkartoon on YouTube though I first watched the ending sequence where the number "Some of These Days" was performed on Uncle John's Crazy Town site. In this one, a spider looking for some flies to eat sees through his binocular some possible food inhabiting a bald head of a sleeping man. Also on this man's head is an adult fly couple kissing. When the spider comes down, the man runs while the female manages to avoid his advances by dousing bottled water on him. This has the soaked spider going to his wife and saying to her "No Flies!" when she says that as a question. So he once again goes out. This time he finds a female insect falling into his web after she's falling from a plane piloted by a male one who gets too fresh with her. (Now why would a fly need a plane? Ask a stupid question...) It's here that number I mentioned comes in...Quite entertaining especially with the number which has a few animals like a couple of ducks and a rabbit doing some dances that might have been copied from some actual performances of live action dancers on film. So on that note, I recommend Wise Flies. P.S. The female fly in the ending sequence might not have much attraction to the male pilot but she seems to sing a different tune when she sees the spider if you know what I mean...
