This largely forgotten, low budget French film of the thirties remains more memorable than many ambitious productions for it's treatment of the then current "back to the land" concept.
The father (Larquey) going to see his son who has become a boiler attendant in the city and offering him the farm, unavailingly, is as telling a scene as you will find in the films of the day and a lot of the days that followed.
Nice to see Rignault from "Enfants du Paradis" working, even if he does try too hard.
The production values are modest.
