Very bad things .

Jean Boyer's work is typical "Saturday-night-at -the -movie" stuff ; his stars ,Roger Pierre and Jean -Marc Thibault were a famous stand -up comics duo before they later went their separate ways .

"Une vie de garçon " is a pleasant comedy ,apparently feminist (but actually not at all) , and the duo has plenty of go ; it looks more like a series of sketches than a well-constructed screenplay ;two thirds of the movie are pretty funny , but the last third , the so-called baby and the shady place where the bourgeois future hubby is supposed to go are heavy-handed .

Two persons from the bourgeoisie are to marry;the man throws the de rigueur stag party with his buddies ; but in the place where they're having a wild time ,they meet the future wife who do the same with her friends ; the future groom and bride act as though they've never met ; and if the woman discovers her man's numerous love affairs , his lover and his apartment (bachelor flat) , the so-called pure future wife is far from being an innocent young thing .

In fact ,if the man's mischiefs are true , his fiancée's are make believe , invented from start to finish to take revenge on the fickle sweetheart .In the fifties ,a man could be forgiven ,once he decided to settle down ,but a woman who would have many love affairs before the wedding was considered a hussy .It would take Brigitte Bardot and movies like "la vérité" to see a woman living like a man (with a bad end of course)

The feminists should pass this reactionary bourgeois film-check the ending- up; yet both principals make the film watchable ....
