The first half of this Columbia 'Color Rhapsody' cartoon is very good. The title character has his truck in the circus caravan disintegrate and he wanders into an abandoned house, where he winds up drinking some medicine that is highly alcoholic. Director Art Davis works in some nice sight gags with a wandering moon, a couple of interesting point of view shots and some interesting playing with color as Mr. Elephant stumbles into a bucket of yellow paint.
The problem is that he seems to only have about four minutes of material to work with and he and his crew can't figure out any way to fill it in, so matters slow down. There is also substantial variation in the abilities of the animators, of whom only Sid Marcus is credited -- despite his species, Mr. Elephant seems to lack weight.
Still, in a year in which Columbia's cartoon department was floundering, this is a pretty good effort.
