Caused quite a stir when it was released, as many farmers saw it as knocking President Truman's Brannan Plan, which offered federal support of farm prices. Minnessota newspaper "The St. Paul Pioneer Press" called it "an all-out satire on the government plan, a conspicuous taking of political sides", but producer John Sutherland alleged the barnyard cartoon was made in mid-1950 before he'd ever heard of the Brannan plan.
