Both Popeye and Bluto lay down steel plates on the decks of their ships. But ship did not and still do not use steel for their decks. When wet (and ships do get wet as they sail on rough seas and inclement weather), steel is slippery. That is why they use wood planking for their decks. Rubber soled shoes can even get a grip on wet wood.
Popeye paints a ships mast with invisible paint (thereby making the mast invisible). Popeye then slides down the mast, holding onto the mast with his left hand. But if the mast was invisible, then Popeye's hand should be visible when behind the invisible mast as he slides down. Instead, his hand disappears when it is behind the mast.
Popeye spray paints his ship with Battleship Grey paint all at once. But as he paints his ship, his Grey paint not only paints the sides of his ship Grey, it also paints the bottom of his ship black (without ever changing paints).
