Terrytoons was an animation studio that turned out a number of cartoons in the '30s. It never achieved the renown of the Looney Tunes, and this particular cartoon gives a sense why. "A June Bride" has a hackneyed plot - guy wants a gal but she's kept from him - and dull animation. In this case, a male cat longs for a female cat, but farmer Al Falfa (a recurring character in the Terrytoons productions) won't let her be with him. The situation soon escalates.
One could make the argument that cartoons were still in their relative infancy at the time, so one can forgive the simplistic plot and flat animation. Maybe so, but the truth is that Terrytoons never turned out anything comparable to the Bugs Bunny stuff. I guess that the Warner Bros. Animation department just happened to have the right combo of directors, animators and voice artists.
Anyway, this one's worth seeing if you want a wide variety of old cartoons.
