Warning: Spoilers
Inspite of the fact I don't under stand the language of the Czech republic it was funny.Vlasta was actually almost acting like Chaplin. Now looking at the detail on i.m.d.b., they did not put the character positions clear, except Vlasta, cook ,waitress ,general train inspector.Vlast played Topka. Topkas is a an unemployed Czech who find one temporary job after another , by sneaking on the back of a train without any body finding out.So , when he the train stops he sneaks out and looks for temporary work. There's' a secondary plot to this, The train masters wife being so alone, while he's out on business , behind his back has an affair with some rich guy. His chauffeur knows this so he has to be nicer to his chauffeur. There's this cook ,Hejhal, played by Theodor Pistek, and the waitress Pepicka, played by Maria Norrova. No matter what advertisements they put out ,thru pamphlets , they can't get hardly any customers. Topka has just finished a job putting out pamphlets of advertisements. The waitress comes up to him to give her advertisement and he takes advantage of it. He's broke so he's fooling them. In the beginning, of the eating of the course, he puts on a silent film type visual act equivalent to Chaplin. Sooner or later the cook get suspicious. That he might be trying to avoid paying for it. Until the adulteress train masters wife shows up with rich sugar daddy, who just bought her a hat , as they attempt at an affair, for lunch. Topka feel this is a good distraction. But then the wealthy sugar daddy starts to see his wife across the street, coming out of her car, driven by the chauffeur. This man sees his wife and he takes off with the hat box leaving the wife of the train master behind. While she goes to the outdoor restaurant and asks about her husband to the cook. Topka avoids paying the check and leaves. The rich sugar daddy is already at the car. Later on it's revealed why he has to be very careful. His wife is the one who's wealthy ,not him.Topka ,back on the train, has gone back to the same town .But this time the train inspector Jiri Kokrhel, played by Adolph Menjou type Jaroslav Marvan, is now on the train. They see him and go after him. He ends up at the train station ,being forced to play a train master. The wife of the real one and her lover are still trying to make it.But she sees him and is forced to except it . preventing their affair to be consummated . The inspector Gerneral come in to report it. He's now in disguise, Topka, He has to fool Jiri. So he fakes everything to the inspector to hilarious results. Even eating the food and sharing it with the inspector ,that the cook ,of the wealthy women, has brought food and wine to the train station to fed her chauffeur boyfriend, Then the train master tries to make a play for the flirting wife , until real husband show up.Things finally straighten out and Topka is back on the train for another free ride. This was really funny . 09/10/11
