Meet some children with quite vivid imaginations!
llltdesq15 September 2002
This excellent and very creative short is somewhat hard to find, but it is one of the better efforts done by UPA, which is no small compliment. The minimalist nature of UPA's style of animation lends itself extremely well to this tale of children playing cowboys one fine day and the imagination these children show is delightful. Well worth the effort to track down. That it isn't seen more these days is a sad commentary on the crackdown on violence in cartoons, while in television and films, shooting and explosions are commonplace in things easily viewed by the same kids the self-appointed guardians of acceptability seek to "protect". Most highly recommended.

Beautifully Done. Superb. Brilliant.

Warning: Spoilers
From the moment we get the little family sitting at the table, there is truly a lost feel to this cartoon, of a richness capturing an era that few other programs manage to do.

I couldn't help but compare the feel to that of A Christmas Story, the same feel that Ralphie's wild west daydreams had.

The voicework and minimum of animation (tho actually it is well animated, notice the father at the end when he asks Archie why he is crying. Asontishing structure) are similar to Bullwinkle and Rocky, which could have just as easily been done on the radio.

The kids voices are excellent.

Just a wonderful cartoon that captures a very strong feel of the time.

Similar to the Maypo commercials, but a bit more going on.
