Surgery vs forgery.
dbdumonteil19 November 2012
A little forgotten French film noir ,unpretentious but entertaining;the first minutes, which take place in Spain, might disconcert the viewer ,for they are entirely in Spanish ,without any subtitles -the movie was made for the French audience-.

A story which involves counterfeiters,hostage-taking,car chase, fight under a waterfall. The principal character is a young surgeon whose fiancée has been kidnapped by the forgers, and once again,of course,he becomes a hero overnight. And the girl must be very strong to survive all she endures.

The best scene has nothing to do with thrillers. The doctor's fiancée is a journalist, but her boss does not want her to cover "serious " events;she has to content herself with depicting the society life and he insists she should describe the ladies'clothes as he leaves her, laughing in her back with his male colleagues .One can also note that, after her wedding ,she's going to become a housewife, reneging on her career. It was the early sixties....
