Ludovic Dubois as Robin Des Bois

A supervisor in a junior high school works as a cleaning man(!) during the Summer holidays ;a thirty-something ,he's still a Latin student and has to take his B.A.As the holiday camp counselor has become ill,he is asked to replace him in the Jura mountain.

To enliven things,he dresses up as a Robin Hood,Erroll Flynn style ,and asks the camp boys to play his companions .A lovely girl met on the train will play the part of Lady Marian (oddly called princess Catherine (?)):by a curious coincidence ,she lives in a lugubrious castle with his uncle,a grumpy shady man ,an ideal prince John .

Aimed at the children's market ,this movie has not worn well: charm ,poetry and humor are lacking ,the songs are old-fashioned , and the expected fiction/reality mixture has not materialized ;gags are heavy-handed (one can save,at a pinch ,that of the hole the boys dig).

Roger Nicolas was a humorist whose death at 58 went unnoticed (it was the day after Presley's in 1977) ;Nicole Maurey worked in France and in the USA ,but her only distinguished movie was Bresson's "Journal D'Un Curé De Campagne" .André Berthomieu, the director, in spite of a very bad reputation, gave a handful of estimable comedies ("Le Mort En Fuite" "Gringalet' ),but this one does not make it.
