A French oldies specialist wrote me he called it a day after ten minutes,and it's sure easy to see why."Les Joyeux Pélerins" is a nothing story the purpose of which is to hear musician Aimé Barelli and his orchestra every five minutes.The plot which even steals from "heaven can wait" , is an appalling hotchpotch featuring a pilgrimage to Roma (the musician's old mother' s vow) ,a vague mystery (some members of the band disappear from the palace where they stay) ,a bland love interest between the conductor ,his unbearable singer and two ingenuous ,fresh from the convent.A good dose of narcissism makes this movie unwatchable today,except for fans of the musician.
