When it's over ,it could actually go on and on and on and on..."Le Grand Patron" is one of the granddaddies of the numerous TV series which take place in the medical world .

For a change ,Pierre Very's screenplay is rather weak, a jumble of clichés:a leading light in the medical world (Pierre Fresnay) about to be admitted as a member of the Académie ,has feeling of self-doubts after the death of one of his patients ;two students ,one of whom is the professor's protégé and does not know if medicine is really his way;the other is a cynical heart breaker (Jean -Claude Pascal) who sleeps with all the nurses around; a little boy the professor receives in his home mistakes him for the "Invisible man" he just saw in the famous movie (a short excerpt is shown); to "attract" people fond of "risqué" movies ,there is also an orgy, complete with girls going topless .

Yves Ciampi's movies have not worn well.Even his "Les Heros Sont Fatigués" which is praised abroad is not even granted one star in the FRench "dictionary of films" .

Like this? try these.....

"Docteur Françoise Gailland" (Bertucelli,1975) "The interns" (Swift,1962) "The new interns" (Rich ,1964) "Not as a stranger" (Kramer,1954)
