The beginning of this special and the introduction of the "Orson Welles From Beyond" illusion make a really wide use of the original motion pictures score composed and conducted by Bernard Herrmann for Citizen Kane (1941).
"Orson Welles From Beyond" is an illusion that David Copperfield has been able to perform thanks to a three minutes long short, titled "Magic Trick", that Orson Welles himself has filmed in 1955 for a show of a magician of the past, Richard Himber. All the instances in which Welles referred to him off screen (as "Dick") have been dubbed into "Dave".
According to one Copperfield's interview left to 2006 edition of Guinness World Records, the illusions he considers the better performed by himself are "Flying" and "Death Saw", this one performed in The Magic of David Copperfield 10: The Bermuda Triangle (1988).
The "Flying" illusion is the longest illusion included in this TV special: it reaches the length of 12:43 minutes. The measured time also takes into account the story told to the live audience about his dream of flying and the vision of the black and white short montage after which he finally begins his own performance, which in itself reaches the length of 5:20 minutes.
The "Flying" illusion makes a really wide use of the original motion pictures score composed by Lee Holdridge and conducted by Gianfranco Plenizio for TV Mini-Series East of Eden (1981).
