Warning: Spoilers
Let me explain my self first. I happen to be a serious classic film fan from the pro populace stand point as oppose to the greedy stand point of the demo-publican big and medium classic distributors. I do like your most internationally famous successful local popular classic films titles and stars but it's that i don't restrict myself to the popular or essential, like my enemies the popular classic film fan does.I'm a film history fan. We are a large minority group that most companies don't want to include serving cause this would interfere in the greedy buck. Instead a long term honest dollar in which popular classic films would be saved from audience burn out in the future for reissues. In the fifties , Luis Mariano was the heart throb of France. The Elvis Presely, Mario Lanza and Howard Keel rap up in one. Being a Spanish French and his combo Spanish and Mexican and Brazilian tunes just is hot. Some of his films did come to the united states. A Raymond Château presented it, along with the musicals of George Guetary , in which not one of his musicals are even on home video in France except American in Paris, Mariano musicals was the MGM of France. The thing is , is that Famous filmmakers like Francious Truffo. I might of spelled this incorrectly, hated films like this and probably didn't consider him a first rate actor. Of course Jean Mareau and Brigette Bardo could of been fans of his singing maybe. He's a hot singer and a good actor.I Don't know much french so after watching this I had to look up the stars to be sure who was the exact role. Luis, who plays Mario, and his Friend Nicolas, Played by Richard Nicolas, are successful managers of beauty parlor. That is with the women only not financially. Older clients like Rita Alverez, played by character actress Jane Sourze, goes to him just o flirt with him and not really fix her hair. Her husband, Arthur Allan, get's jealous of her and they fight. Mario girl's friend is a top star of the Follies Berger, played by a tall red head Gisele Roberts. They both owe money to the beauty parlor , Mario and Nic.The bills are piled up and they are keeping the money instead. The boss is mad and Mario keeps sidetracking him. His head flies off his body when he meets tourist.Gabrielle, played by Genevieve Kervin, a competent Blond actress,He forgets his work confusing her since she want to get her hair fix and they go out on a walking date.Well after that he comes back and Jane is angry that s he did not keep his hair appointment so she insist on one a facial suntan. He receives a call from the hotel where she is staying that she has left for her home town.He flies so the handle leaving Jane to get a sunburn on half her face, a very red Eastmancolor sun burn on her left side. He takes off to chase her with his friend . His girl friend takes of to chase him when she finds out and the angry Jane takes off to jump on him for burning her face. When she arrives home of her father who owns a restaurant and hotel called grand hotel she starts to remember her vacation but she has fell in love with Mario. When he arrives in town he goes to the place and a poultry dealer ,played by Darry Cowl, Dupes him so that he ,Mario, can play the chicken buyer. Gabriellas father, played by Fernand Sardou, thinks he's a chicken buyer, when Genevieve confronts him she's happy but nervous about her father knowing about. Gisele shows up pretending to want a job as a maid to watch him. a sexy maid at that. When Mario find out and jumps on her and Genny sees them she get's mad and jealous of him . Then Nick shows up to tell him about the boss is going to take action. The Alverezes show up so Jane to jump on him. eventually the boss shows up and has him arrested. comedy and romance in french no subtitles with songs like Gabriella and the big Mexican Brazil Spanish dance festival with the song and that I forgot the title of the song but I think it was Brazlain ensemble. This is a good french musical classic It isn't Riffi or 400 blows but that's for the arrogant snobby popular film classic fans. Scr- Traufou and Carnes and Luc Goddard their movies are arrogant for an audience who has no appreciation of film history. Well they are good movies and directors but distributors are the a-holes I believe in equality of the popular and unpopular. There too much fascism against unpopular classics in the name of old toilet paper.Money is the rude of all evil.

Girl from the south country
ulicknormanowen25 May 2022
After playing the barber of Sevilla, the year before ,it was only natural that Luis Mariano became a hairdresser in "quatre jours à Paris" ,the title of which is a misnomer,by the way : only the first third takes place in Paris ; a girl from Provence comes to the capital for four days ,(hence the title) then leaves for her native village named "Chantolive" (=singing Olive ) .So all the characters wind up in this one-horse town where her daddy ,a restaurant owner , has problems with his hen house.

Another vehicle for Luis Mariano ,the ladies' icon , who duly sings , as all his musicals : he has the de rigueur foil ,in the shape of Roger Nicolas ,and of course all the girls around at his beck and call ,the old and the young ,except for one vapid virgin ,the girl from the Provence .

It's a cock and bull story ,involving a treatment to rejuvenate -Jeanne Sourza has to pay for this charlatan mistake, with her half-face turning pink -, deaths (of hens) in a house hen,Mariano masquerading as a poultry farming expert , the local police suspecting something shady in this inn -the way Andrex pronounces "pin-up " is hilarious -where those people from Paris could be spies ,particularly this French can can dancer who chases Mariano (who else?) who can't get rid of her .

Strictly for Mariano's bel canto fans.....
