A rocky road

A tourist trap: a man (Pierre Fresnay) who organizes package tours takes a village where Napoleon never set foot and affirms that the emperor stopped at the inn on his way back from Elbe Island. Most the inhabitants think that it's really a godsend.

However, the most interesting part of the film is a subplot which concerns a young schoolteacher (Claude Laydu) ,an orphan who suffers from solitude. But the greedy man will cash in on his situation .Pretty soon the headlines will read " The most miserable schoolteacher in France" ! An entertaining film by Jean Delannoy.Claude Laydu ,the schoolteacher, was to be very successful with his "Bonne Nuit les Petits" TV series for (very) little children.
