Sex & Nudity

  • Although this is a film that is ideal for children and families to watch together, it contains several instances of naturalised nudity of adults and children. All of the nudity is completely non-sexualised, and is the kind featured in National Geographic documentaries about Africa. You see a lot of breast nudity, and some brief (but still noticeable) male nudity on both Kirikou as a (male) child and the older men in the film too.

Violence & Gore

  • None whatsoever! However, Kirikou does use a knife on several occasions to defend himself and his friends.

Profanity

  • No bad language of any kind!

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • No depictions of alcohol, drugs or smoking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Whilst there is nothing overtly frightening or intense, the very, very young or the very, very sensitive child, may find the idea of a boat that wants to kidnap then kill the children a little scary. Ditto, when Kirikou is burrowing his way to the Sorceress's temple, and he comes into contact with a wild badger-like animal that threatens and attacks the youngster.
