The series was one of the earliest exponents of Chromakey effects, achieved with the help of contact lenses and blue make up on Sky's palms.
Originally, the producers were looking for a child actor with natural fair hair and blue eyes. Although physically wrong for the part, seventeen year old Bristol-born actor Marc Harrison so impressed the production team, that they offered him the role, substituting the natural features with a blonde wig and contact lenses.
The master copies of the first and third episodes are thought to no longer exist; however good-quality domestic recordings do survive for them.
Sky never formally introduces himself. His name is first used by Arby in the second episode without explanation.
The opening sequence in which Sky appears to get covered in leaves and sticks by unseen hands was achieved by the now primitive method of blowing off the leaves with a wind machine and then showing the footage in reverse.
